Hi Adam, I just checked the link and see that it is no longer active. If you send me an email at “honigmail at verizon dot net”, I will send you the files. I am fairly busy over the next two days so I probably won’t be able to reply until Sunday.

After some additional experimentation last night I think that the problem lies with the way Vegas passes its frames to RED. If I apply BCC Deinterlace as a plugin but change the source from V1 to the video clip itself, all works well.
The problem seems to happen when I set my Vegas project to 23.976 non-interlaced. Apparently, Vegas does not pass the frames from the 29.97 clip in a raw form. By looking at the images in Red, it looks like Vegas averages/processes the fields even though the Vegas deinterlace method is set to None.

Sorry I misread your statement and see that you DO primarily want titling, and that effects are second. In that case, you will find that titling within Red gives you advantages over Graffiti alone. Again, the full 3D environment with its lighting, shadows, oclusions and intersections let you do advanced compositions. I have done a lot of dynamic logos that are used in corporate videos. Boris Red made it possible for me to do exactly what the clients and I envisioned without experiencing any functionality limitations by the software.
If you use Graffiti instead of Red you will have to contend with various work-arounds like in this tutorial: https://www.borisfx.com/tutorials/around5.php
I know there are many more limitations but I can’t recall them off hand.

I am both a Red and Vegas user. I contemplated the same before I decided to go with Red. The reason being, Red is a full 3D environment where objects can iteract with each other in a correct geometric fashion and can cast shadows upon each other. As one object moves behind another it is correctly ocluded. Though Boris FX does create 3D objects, the world in which they exist is 2D.
Additionally, Red can run in stand-alone mode with its own renderer and has several important features (like a powerful pixel chooser, clone paint and wire removal) that are not in FX. Though you said you are not interested in titling, Red’s extruded text plays well with the other object in its 3D environment to create some neat effects.

No bother at all; I’m always glad to help. I can’t recall any specific features that stood out for me, but in general nearly all releases contain some bug fixes even if they are not mentioned. That is why I always install them.
There are no relese notes for 4.3.3. In fact, the release notes that are included in the 4.3.3 install are actually for the previous version (4.3.2).
Those release notes can be found at:
https://www.borisfx.com/download_files/Boris_RED_4.3.2_RN.pdfEvidence seems to indicate that most people that have anything to do with Boris are named Peter. By the way I am a Boris Red user but not an employee.

That’s right. There is no update; just a full install using a TNB version.

You can download it from:
https://www.borisfx.com/login/reg_form.php?action=esd_redYou will then be sent an email with a serial number. Though this is the same proceedure the “try-and-buy” downloads, this is actually a true install for registered Red users that does not expire. The last upgrade (4.3.2) was done exactly the same way.

Hi Peter,
I have already repaired quite a few templates, including those that still worked but refered to obsolete versions of existing filters. My goal has been to elimate all references to “(Obs.)” filters. I would be very happy to share these with you if you wish.
Regards,

You might want to post this on the SONY site, as there are several of us who are Vegas/Red/FX users. I have the Vegas Pro 9 update, but have not installed yet it due to the instability of the release.

Theo, are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of Vegas? As I recall, 64 bit Vegas is not compatible with 32 bit plugins.
