Rycote do a range of accessories to help in this very frustrating and difficult area. They are called undercovers, overcovers and stickies and you can buy them from the website.

Isotopes demo vid IS impressive. Youd expect it to be. But I (like TY) do find it to be an impressive restoration tool.
Not to bad mouth Audition, but theres no comparison against something like pro Tools In my opinion.

MM a wedding vid is a long thing. Id suggest downloading Izotopes RX demo and see if that can help. I find it excellent as you teach it what you consider to be bg noise.
If it helps youll need to acquire the non demo version.

Sorry Im late on this post but Ive been away mixing
Consider this.
use REd guide (and lets face it that all theyre good for) in FCP
IN PT get the guide track UNCUT from editor and import. Then import all the real recordings and spot up all tracks under the guide track.
Position this sequence at a start tc that matches the guides embedded tc
and make sure any stops are allowed for so the whole TCs from the real tracks and the audio on the guides match exactly.Get the editor to do his edit.
Get an EDL pre the cut, and a changes list post the cut (this tells you the offsets.
Then spend a long laborious time re matching the PT timeline to the new edlOR
get Virtualkaty.com to do it all for you automatically.
Its a few quid, but well worth the cost and investment over the years.

I dont wish to be negative, but I think youre on a loser with this. I think that the BEST you can hope for is not awful.
If the bands dont have a mixing console, then how on earth will you hear the vocals. I understand that guitars etc have their own amps, but vocals. There must be a PA.
In which case take the easy way out and take a post fader aux feed from the sound desk or amp. A 40db pad will bring this line level down to a mic input sensitivity if thats what you need. Your mix will be as the pa mix (good bad or indifferent) but at least not purely acoustically captured. If youve only 2 record tracks, take a mono desk feed AND set up a centre stage “sweetspot mic and blend a little of the liveness into the pa mix afterwards. yes itll be in mono but frankly i dont think therell be much stereo from bands with no touring support!
Let us know how you come on.

Eh!!!
re Im working on edit in Final cut pro, where i suddenly noticed there is no audio in my left speaker. A1= no wave A2= wave (stereo)
FCp doesnt record stereo. Only multiple mono tracks that CAN be paired together to give a stereo pair. Of its on 1 track only, it aint stereo.

Pan it centre and off you go. Theres no advantage in having 2 tracks of the same audio on any timeline, be it avid, fcp Pro tools etc. This is what the pan function is for. By dropping 1 leg and panning central you lessen the media in the project, and it means that you dont have to do editing on more legs than is necessary.HOWEVER If the recordist was recording unique audio to each leg, then yes hes really screwed you over!

Yep you need to pad down the line level to mic level.
an inline 40db pad will do it, or buy a beachtek.Does the camera not have a menu / switch to go between mic and line?
