re “The audience doesn’t want to use a traditional hand held mic, wireless or not”

Why? Since when does an audience spec the tech aspects of a shoot?
Tell them what theyre doing. Youre running the gig.
I understand that they can hear eachother so might think they dont need a mic.
Just explain to them why theyre wrong.

Get a -40db pad between the mixing board and radio transmitter. Either a in line xlr -40 db or use a radio mic with attenuation pads inside.

Okay cards on the table I’m a dubbing mixer so would never dream of mixing sound in a video edit platform but seeing as that is where you are I suspect , if when you select one side of your stereo audio you only have 1 pan control this may mean that you have unlinked the audio in which case you will have to do the left and right legs as separate events planning 1 left and one to right.
That’s all I can think it could be as if it was proper linked stereo audio I’m sure two tracks and 2 planners would be there

Try selecting 1side if a stereo pair. If it doesn’t grab the other side auromatlly then shift click both then apple L to link

use the clip audio mix tools (NOT track audio mix tool) in Prem pro to pan the stereo material hard left and hard right.
same for the mono material but pan this centre.
Balance the levels on the faders to your taste.
Mark in and out around the sequence and Export as stereo – either embedded in the video file export or as a sep audio file.

Youre not wanting to export separates track by track but the whole thing as a finished stereo mixdown.

    Also ask yourself.

“who else might be involved for this recording to be a success, and is your sound high up on their priorities, do you know and trust them to get it right?”

If there is any doubt then dont trust anyone else. If it goes wrong its on you , not them.

If it were me id want a personal mic on everyone who speaks, and either record it as separates and sort it in an edit / mix or get a sound mixer who is working ONLY for me to mix my audio.

RElying on anyone else or their equipment is rarely the road to happiness in my opinion.

I think your issue is that you aren’t giving encore DVD compliant files so it has to compress.
If you put your files through something like I use sorenson squeeze and add m2v DVD compliant files and an ac3 audio file it will give you the option to not re encode ( unless they’re too big for the DVD author)
Nb. You’ll never get beautiful 1080p files on a sd DVD. 1080 p is hi def so must be for blu Ray.

It is not a VU meter.
The ballistics of Premiere pro audio meters do not follow even similar characteristics to a VU meter

    Hi
I always put my media files through Sorenson squeeze to make DVD compliant (and field order aware) m2v files, then put them into Encore.
