    Guys,

Thanks for all your responses. I guess the final take-out for me of this thread is….you can’t really get it wrong. I think both cameras are doing a pretty good job given their pricing.
To answer one question about the pricing which I forgot to mention. The Sony is an ex-demo with only 40 hours usage so I can get it with a huge discount. That’s why it matches the Panasonic pricing. Sorry for not being clear on that.

I am still not sure which one to buy, so indeed it is going to be a “shoot out” eventualy.
Thnx again to everybody for your help, it’s much appreciated.

Guys, thanks a lot for all your posts. It has been very helpfull.
I am not going to wait and/or spend extra money on the Dual Layer capacity only. I don’t need that in the foresable future.

However an amazin turnaround has shown up and that is the Panasonic AG-HPX500 camera. a 2/3″ camera at around the same price point as the Sony.
I can buy a package including 4 P2 card, being good for 1 hour true HD recording which is absolutely fine/enough for me.

    Any thoughts on that one?
    thnx

Thnx so much for the info

I tried finding the 16x package, but all I found so far is a 20x package.

This sounds like a good deal to me however, but is this lens a good one or are there better ones in the sams price range?

thnx again and sorry for asking all these detailed questions.

Wow, that’s a very impressive summary. Thanks a lot.
I asume you are “slightly biased” of course, but the facts cannot be ingnored 🙂
I was also advised by my supplier to have a very serious look into the Panasonic after he heard me talking about the Sony.
So although the battle ain’t over yet, you guys are on the winning hand….
I will let you know when I have decided.
Oh, BTW which lens would you recommend for the Panasonic
I have a budget of around $10k and for personal reasons I can only buy a Canon lens, so no Fujinon or something else.
I mostly use it for shots between 1 meter and 20-30 meters distance and only seldomly anything at 100 mtrs+

Would that be an inexpensive HD or a higher quality SD lens?
    thnx

    Thnx a lot.
    This helps.
Given your comments (esp. the 10K +) I deleted the 355 out of my memory….

Now all I have to do is find the best lens for it. I have read that the KH20x6.6KRS is a very poor performer. I don’t think I can spend $20k+ on a good lens alone -KH21ex5.7 IRSE or so-

    Any suggestions?
    thnx
