I would think LW targets more in the AVID direction, since it has a professional feature film background (and has now gone Open Source).
It also seems not to be so “overstuffed” with video effects like Premiere. Will test it on the weekend -
Thank you, Brian!
Hope you didn’t understand my answer as an offense. Really wasn’t meant that way. I’m very thankful for any input, since I have so much to learn about audio. So, thanks again! Much appreciated!

Thank you, Brian!
Since I don’t know nothing about electronics and diagrams, I appreciate it very much, that you translated it for me.

Eric, I’ve got one more question.
Is there a difference concerning line-levels between the “Main Mix” of a mixer and say a “CD/Tape” output mix. Couldn’t find anything about that in the manuals (english and german).
If it matters, I have a (please don’t laugh – I know it’s anything but professional) Behringer XENYX 802 mixer.Any information greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Michael! Had a discussion recently with a friend exactly about this issue and your post threw a new light on that subject.

I was working with SD and HDV interlaced footage for similar reasons, until I was “forced” to produce progressive footage for some web-clips, switching back to interlaced for the next projects whenever possible.
For about two years now, I have to produce material that will be shown on both: on TV and on the web. So I use a CRT monitor for the TV/DVD version for post work (color correction etc).
Unless it’s not sports (where my footage must be interlace for a couple of reasons), I shoot progressive, because over time I got so used to the progressive look (even on my CRT and an TV), that I really started to like it so much that I don’t want to switch back to interlaced.
Just my thoughts. HTH

All DSLRs are a bit tricky to work with, since they are still cameras in the first place. And for me it took a while to get used to the handling.
My work consists mainly of sports- and imagevideos, and so I choose my camera specifically for each project. Can’t use my T2i or 7D for sports, because those cameras don’t give me that precise “point and shoot handling” that “regular” camcorders provide (not to mention the rolling shutter issues).
For image clips, I use most of the time DSLRs, because I can plan my shoots better and they give me more of a cinematic feel with the shallow DOF etc…
So, I don’t think that in a prosumer category you will find THE camera. I’m happy to be able to choose from a couple of affordable cameras that are available to me all of the time. And if a project demands a “better” (or to be mor precise: a more specific camera), I rent it for the project.
Just my two cents… HTH

Problem/solution is crystal clear now, thanks again!

Thanks for your reply, Eric!
I was so slow trying to write understandable english, that you were faster with your second post than I was with my answer to your first!
I did read the manual – but the wrong one (the one of the mixer)… Shame on me!
Again: Thank you very much! Greatly appreciated!

Can’t help you with FCP, but there were a couple of discussions recently about which intermediate codec to use best with DSLRs.
