Thanks Jerzy, I agree with you about compression, but don`t think I can talk them into accepting it.
The command line method you point me to is for linux. I installed ubuntu 17 on the machine just to find ibm ltfs does not support it. May have to look for something else.
The png you show me is for the hp software, wich does not seem to work with an ibm drive (i tried).
It have now installed the drive on a osx 10.8.5 machine and it is recognized and can operate but I am now in search for ibm ltfs 1.3 for mac, as it seems the later versions dropped support for my os. Problem is ibm only lists version 2.2 and above, wich do not work.
Thanks again, will see what I can find, don´t have much time…

  • Thanks Shane.
In your tutorial you do click on batch capture (with the log&transfer window already open). I’m lost here.
    Any idea?

  • Hi Folks.
I am in the same situation as the OP. Only difference is I first converted using log and transfer.
Now I make the clip offline but when I try to batch capture it gives me all sort of errors like no controllable device, no valid audio or video device found, etc. What should my audio/video settings look like?
I never used batch capture other than for ingesting from tape, and it was long ago.
Does anybody know what am I missing?
    Thanks in advance!

Hi again Greg. I would drop the m2v file in the VIDEO tab (in toast). Also in toast, set the quality to automatic, or it will re-encode the video. I only suggest this as the problem I had was when dvd sp made the build. If the problem, as others say, is when upconverting, I think little can be done. You may suggest your client not to step too close to the screen. I see many people stand in front of huge screens say oh this screen is awful, look at the pixels, and they are standing one or too feet in front of it.
    Good luck

I suggest you watch the encoded video that comes out of compressor, in quicktime player, and compare it with the dvd image.
I have had a problem where after build, the image looked terrible (dvd sp was not re-encoding the video). I was using dvd sp 3 then. Had a copy of version 1.0 for os 9 and tried a build of this same video in a beige g3 and guess what, the video looked perfect on the same players the build from dvdsp version 3 looked horrible. I wasnt able to point what the problem was, EVEN DID A COMPLETE CLEAN SYSTEM AND APPS REINSTALL, but problem still remained.
If you can, try to build a single asset with other software, maybe even toast.
If you find a solution, please let us know
    good luck

Thanks Steven. I will see if I can have the manual sent all the way to Argentina. Have to register a credit card, etc, etc.
The machine doesnt need parts for now, hope it remains this way. Still, I think a lamp can always be replaced and a motor rewond. If not, I better dont burn one.
    Thanks again
