Hi Dan,
Thank you for reaching out.
I assumed this would not be that easy to achieve.
I’m providing a native .ae file to a client and wanted to have it precomped as they will find it easier to edit and re-type whatever they need in a clean comp without messing with other animated layers on the main comp.
I’m using a Linear Wipe effect (with CC Composite with 50% opacity and then a second Linear Wipe that will reveal the text in its full opacity) on the same text layer but, text layers are continuously rasterized locked and because of that the Linear Wipe effect is getting its margins from the comp dimensions – meaning the percentage of the wipe won’t be accurate to affect the text from 0% to 100% and the client will have to adjust easing himself depending on the amount of text.
I kind of made it work using CC Jaws which actually wipes the text from its bounding box margin but I’m having a hard time to get the 50% opacity from CC Composite to work, for some reason it is not working on text layers but it works on normal solids, which makes me think the continuously rasterized box is messing the whole thing again…
I would like to avoid track mattes as there are a couple mixed up already, and again I have no control on the amount of text, lines, etc, the client will need to use.
Sorry if I’m sounding too confusing on my description..

Thanks a lot for your replies and for sharing all the info.
Not sure if my new Retina Macbook Pro motherboard would support it but it would definitely be such an awesome feature to explore in the future!
Its tiny, unnoticeable, doesn’t bother anyone with cables, space or weight… One day in the future maybe! Thanks a lot again for helping out.

Thanks a lot for your replies.
I kind of suspected it would be asking to much to have the card reader doing the heavy job but it would be awesome if it would work somehow. The SSD should work just fine for now.
Thanks!

Hi Walter,
Thank you so much for your reply and the useful links.
I´m not big of a mathematician and know very little of coding, but I suppose they needed what they called as equations, to build the exact bezier curves I had on my animations as I don´t think they can simply draw them, they need to use their values in order to calculate and build them through the code.
I did sent them the keyframe information as suggested above but in the end they decided not to go into so much detail so they kind of tricked it and matched the animations by eye.
Anyway, thanks for the links, it’s useful to understand how these things are built.

Hey Kevin,
Thanks for your replies, I was not that clear in my question.
Indeed it was related with the curves in the graph editor.
I will try that, getting the keyframe data and show them to see if they can do anything with it, although I have a feeling they are expecting the whole recipe for the magic.I’ve found this thread ( https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/227/11974 ) while looking for answers here in Creative cow, its not exactly what I am looking for but it is damn interesting.
Thanks for all the help and suggestions

Hi Brian,
Yes, most of the animations are for Position and Scale, and in a few cases related with one or another effect.
It is exactly the curves from the graph editor that I need to provide. From what I’ve been told there are pre-made equations for a couple curves (I suppose it will be something like in this site https://easings.net) and by sending them a print screen of my AE curves they have been able to simulate the same animation based on this pre-made equations which made things a lot easier.
The problem, I think, comes when the curves are a bit more complex or need to match exactly what I am doing in AE.

Hi Dave,
I’d like to provide the exact animation data to the developers team.
To match the exact curves that I am using in my animations they need the equations for it. -
Hey,
I’m trying to do the opposite somehow, I want to get the equations from my graph editor, is this even possible?
Is it possible to get any data from the graph editor?
I’ve also tried to use the expression that Darby posted but couldn’t get anything out of it too.
Thanks

Hi Walter,
Thank you for your reply, indeed it makes total sense.
My confusion came when trying to match the same blur result on both ends, the blurriness amount I had in AE was completely different from the pixel blur values in the devs code. (I have no coding knowledge whatsoever so maybe it is supposed to be this way)
Please open the following example on your Chrome browser:
https://jsfiddle.net/9rcf2gtk/3/On the CSS area (top right) you see 35px which, I suppose, stands for the pixel radius. To match the exact same result there I’d need 100 units blurriness in AE.
Once again thanks for the help.

Hi Xavier,
I would gladly give it a go, but there’s no rush on this though.
You should definitely write the script I am sure it will be extremely useful for a lot of people out there. If you’re willing to share it later on you should use AEScripts community or something like that once as I’m sure you’ll have a lot of support.I wish I had scripting knowledge, I’d be building my own tools within AE.. Just don’t know where to start.
Good luck with the Script and thanks for all the help and attention.
