When I turn on the original layer, I see all the waveforms, with the selected waveform highlighted in yellow. When I turn off the original layer, I see nothing. I selected with the Extract/Frequency tool. Thanks for your patience.

When I do that, the tools become active again, but there is no red waveform visible. And that’s my problem.

Hi Mark, thanks for the reply. I confirm I did all as you describe. The “new layer” box on the right is red, the selected waveforms show yellow; however, when I click the speaker symbol against the green bottom layer, nothing shows in the main area. If I click off the boxes, so they both turn green and then click on the speaker icon next to the bottom layer box, I do see the selected waveform – but it’s in green, not red, and the selection tools are greyed out, so I can’t work on the selection.

Thanks, works perfectly, as you predicted. You have saved my window (I was on the point of throwing the computer through it).

May I ask a follow up? I notice that the .mxf file, when played back in Vegas, is much more color-saturated and contrasted than the original version. Is this something I can adjust?

OK, thanks for your help. I wish Sony’s tech support was a responsive and helpful.

The music file is a a wma file, ripped from a commercial CD. I’ve tried the nesting process with two different .veg files and this issue happened with both. I guess I could use Render As for the audio, using .wav or .wma, and drop it onto the timeline in the master project. I did report to Sony, as you suggested. Thanks again for all your help.

OK, thanks. One follow up, if I may. There are several .mxf options in Vegas. Which one should I choose – HD EX, HD422, NTSC DV, etc?
    Thanks again.

The single audio track I get after nesting is not a render of the two original tracks. I have two audio tracks in the original project – the sound recorded by the camera is on one and some music on the second – only the audio track of the sound recorded by the camera is present after nesting. The music is not there at all, either as a separate track or rendered into the single post-nesting track. (Hope this is not the second time I posted this; I tried once before, but cannot see the posting).

Thanks, John, that helps. I’m working on several different projects and wanted to put them together into one master program, so thought I should render each project separately and put the rendered files together in one big program. I read elsewhere in this forum your advice to someone about nestling, but this didn’t work for me, when I tried it. The various video tracks of the second project were rendered into one track, when I opened it in a new master project; however, thye audio tracks did not render; just one of the audio tracks from the second project opened in the master project. I suppose I could render audio tracks separately – but not in .ac3 🙂 Is there a way to include all audio tracks from the second and subsequent .veg files, when nestling?
    Thanks again.
