Sorry bad day at the office – I’m not making much sense here. I’ll try again…

What I mean is – initially I had compressor set for bottom field and when I checked the top the problem seems to have gone away.

But I’m not sure why it only effected the sped up motion fxs part of the clips in the first place.

    Cheers

Doh – when I said bottm field for PAl what I shoulda said was Bottom.

For some reason I checked top field and I think it was messing with my motion FXs. Weird though – wouldn’t you think it’d effect the whole thing?

As the source was DVCAM anyway (sorry probably should’ve mentioned that in the first post) and I didn’t have a spare drive available to transport a 25-30GB file – I decided to master to tape.

Funny though, it was the last thing I thought of doing. Wasn’t that long ago it would’ve been the first – how things change!!

thanks for all your help guys. As it happens I couldn’t speak to the person actually doing the job for various reasons I won’t bore you with.

So as someone else said the original source was DVCAM anyway so the file size seemed a bit bloated. Anyway I ended up going the old fashioned way and Mastering it back to DVCAM tape.

Cheers for all you help and comments. I learnt some stuff I’ll use next time.

Thanks for that Floh. Unfortunately for reasons I won’t bore you with I can’t really get in touch with the company handling the file direct. Would you export the QT with the animation codec straight of of m100 and what file size would you expect from it?

    Cheers again

    Hi Pepa

Mac the ripperjust rips the files off the disc. It won’t transcode them to anything you’ll be able to edit with. Some one mentioned to check out http://www.squared5.com. I’d agree got here and MPEG streamclip use this to make turn the files into something you can edit with like DV. But there’s it’s a brilliant (and free) program with many options to choose from.

Just make sure you’ve got the mpeg2 download for quicktime other wise Mpeg streamclip won’t work properly.

    Good luck.

are you using a system with Kona set up or some kind of in/out box? If so, you can go into that and digitise your audio on the fly without having to record it to your camera first.

I do that with a mic (in a Voice over Booth) then into a mixer. It digitises straight into a bin in M100 and I just delete what I don’t like as I go.

Saves heaps of time. But I’m not aware of any system that’ll let you playback from a timeline and digitise at the same time. But I could be wrong about that.
