  • Hi Mads,

Let me be clear about how this went from my side. I started this thread politely, with a specific question, and I stayed polite for a long time, even when the answers kept avoiding the actual question. At some point, faced with comments calling me lazy, narcissistic, and now telling me to “pull your finger out of your backside,” my tone got drier and more sarcastic. That’s a direct reaction to unprovoked aggression, not something I started. I’m not going to pretend to stay endlessly agreeable while getting insulted.

On that line specifically: that’s a personal insult, not an argument. I never said anything close to that to you, so I don’t see why it’s suddenly fine coming from you.

I asked a specific technical question, based on hands-on experience with both tools. If you don’t want to answer that, fine, but there’s no need to make it personal.

  • Two things.

First, the politeness. A forum exists so people can ask questions and get help, that’s the whole point. Your “do your own research” response could be pasted under literally any post on this forum, which just proves it’s not an answer, it’s a reflex. If you don’t feel like answering, nobody’s forcing you to, but there’s no need to announce it with that tone. And as for “who will miss you if you leave”, I’ll turn that around: you’re the one who came to this post to say you didn’t feel like answering it.

Second, on price. You ask “what huge price difference”, when it’s so obvious I honestly wonder if you’ve ever done the math. Even over 2 years, the difference is huge: Premiere Pro with the whole Adobe suite (whis is needed to compare to Resolve) comes to €1,930, versus €275 for Resolve with a lifetime Studio license. Over 10 years the gap widens even further, close to €10,000 on Adobe’s side. So yes, the difference is huge no matter which angle you look at it from, and the real question still stands: what does Premiere/AE offer that justifies it. If you don’t have the answer, just say so, but spare me the lecture on laziness.

  • Sure, just insult me. Have a good day !

  • Nope, it doesn’t help at all for reason i already explained. It’s like asking someone for the time and having him explaining that time is not relevant.

  • I still find it surprising that among the answers I received, not a single one actually addressed my question, but rather explained why my question was irrelevant. I would have preferred less judgment about my question and a bit more answers.

  • This AI of yours is wrong. There is no support for masking in the Edit page of DVR, even in version 21. None. Never trust an answer you got from an an AI. That’s why i’m asking humans.

  • For example, on another forum, someone answered my question with this list :

    – Full Screen (Cinema Viewer) mode that doesn’t disable editing tools.
    – Source clips have “alternate timecode” support.
    – Keyboard modifier to toggle current trim action.
    – “Allow Selection tool to choose Roll and Ripple trims without modifier” option.
    – Find All in Timeline function (Resolve’s Edit Index only lets me move the playhead clip by clip)
-Integrated masking tools (in the Edit Page).
    – Obviously the Tilde key toggle to maximize the panel under the playhead, endlessly useful.
    – Better scripting support (eg getting and settings selection status)

That’s exactly the kind of answers i’m looking for and i’m pretty sure that everyone who have used both softwares has his own list.

  • Please don’t see it a an agression but i’m just looking to an answer to my question.

  • I’m sorry if my answer felt passive-aggressive, I am just trying to clarify my question. What interests me are the differences in features between the two software programs. Of course, I could look at a simple list of what these two software programs offer, but what I’m interested in are which features really make the difference BASED ON USER EXPERIENCES. The ones that might lead some editors to find Premiere superior to Resolve.

  • OK, the interface of Premiere is more customizable than the Resolve one. That’s something. Any other features that Resolve don’t have? And please just answer this question instead or telling me that i shouldn’t ask that question or that there is no one software that is better than another. I’m just looking to know what feature Premiere has that Resolve don’t. Thank you.
