I have a copy of disk warrior, so I’ll run all my drives through that to clean up any drive issues. Hopefully that will help some.

Do you guys have any alternative strategies to how to get a copy of my master sequence with just the used media? Or is media manager that only way to go in FCP?

The goal is that we are taking a project shot primarily on MiniDV to a post facility to bump it up to Digi-Beta, via a Kona card. In case any problems arose, I wanted to create a self contained version of the final sequence on a single harddrive (in this case, a LacIe 500gig), just in case we had to reference any of the source clips.

The post facility asked that I create a master MiniDV tape of all the DV material in the sequence. They will digitize that in via the SDI inputs on the Kona. Then they’re going to drop in all the motion graphics and effects work from the project file that I’m going to create. (They encouraged this workflow to cut down on render times and any artifacting that may occur from an uncompressed timeline).

I just wanted the media managed copy as a backup.

Thanks for the response guys. Its actually a much more straight forward process than I thought. I was fearful of all sorts of weird conversions, etc etc. Nice to know that the Kona 2 is a good solution.

Thanks for responding! Per your questions…….

It was working fine recently (the last week has been fine), but then suddenly developed these problems.
Also, the connection is a USB. I’m not sure if that would cause any problems.
As for a powerdown, protocol. The on-camera LCD does shut off after a time. But that function wasn’t causing any problems before.
