If I shot dvcpro 50 mode on the spx800 onto the p2 cards, and then captured in avid via the spx800 SDI output, would not the video be uncompressd in the same fashion as if I was playing a dvcpro50 tape back on a vtr with SDI output ?

I also have the same camera and have used the fs-100.

My settings, dvcpro50, p2, local fs-100 control and when it’s recording the red light flashes and the counter is running. I don’t trust the camera slave mode. I leave the spx800 TVC on fee run and when the fs-100 starts recording that TC is part of the metadata. So, I niote the TC at record and that’s how I find my shots durung editing. Patrick

the problem I am having however, and focus is trying to solve this, is that the spx800 offers to the fs-100 ch1 as “ch 0” and when edited ito Vegas this is not a problem, but AVID does not what a ch 0 is and thus I loose ch1 audio when I edit in AVID.

I did that (video shot using 16:9 video in 24p)then converted via HD Link to AVI and edited in Vegas and rendered as a MPEG-2.

But the DVD plays great (colros and 24p ish like) on a PC monitior but just ok (video like) on a progressive scan DVD player.

I assume the HDTV would display 24p as are not most mass produced DVDs 24p anyway ?

At least you have audio ! I can’t even get the audio to play.

I edit in vegas 7c, render as a MPEG-2 Media Concept file (as DVD Arch likes that) and then import the rendered file to DVD Arch. But once there the audio is not, as the audio has to be dealt with as a separate file in either of 3 formats (I selected PCM). I hear the audio on the vegas timeline, but not on the DVD Arch timeline.

Which Vegas audio render mode did you select for your audio ?

I may have answered my own question:

I shot at 16:9 DVcpro 50 at 24p. Which would be pixel ratio of 1.2

But after I used Raylight to convert the footage to AVI
I found that the AVI files now were DV at 0.9 pixel ratio.

Thus, when I render out the timeline in Vegas 7c the mismatch of pixel ratios messes up my end product.

I tried and TRIED to get that new XMF plug-in to actually exist in Vegas 7c Plug-In Manager but to NO avail ! What am I doing wrong ? In the Vegas 7c PLUG-IN Manager, what does the plugin look like ?

I can tell you that that excellent link allowed me to at least now see video via Raylight-conversion-of-XMF-to AVI in the Vegas 7c timeline.

    Thanks,
