  • Can’t you enable the track clip gain in the timeline control panel and then use the mini faders shown at the start of each clip in the timeline?
You can also type – 96 there as well.

  • Well first off this is something that can and does work almost everyday in Post.
The image wasn’t much help as you mentioned bar’s but there weren’t any in image.

    Avid works with TV/studio/legal levels.
In HD rec709 for 8 bit that’s 16 for back 235 for peak white.
The first step is to ensure all the footage ingested is correctly in that level range. AMA linking and ensuring the correct source colour adapter is key here. MC won’t always get that correct. You need to check each source before it’s cut into a timeline.
Adding or removing a colour adapter after a clip has been used in a sequence won’t update that timeline clip unless you manually refresh the sequence.
Then the grade has to be done within those TV/studio/legal levels.
Possibly using a correctly set up safe limiter effect.
Using external scopes is ideal but the Y waveform in colour corrector mode is useful as it has 16 and 235 marked showing 0 – 100% and the waveform goes from green to white if you exceed those limits.
Then it comes to export. You need to decide the codec needed and the the output level scaling.
To make the video look good on desktop playback or the Web scale levels from legal to full scale.

If you want stills it’s safer to export them from with in MC again scaling on export as Tiff or whatever.

If you have letter boxing it’s important it’s at digital 16 (for 8 bit) in MC not higher or lower.

  • Auto sync can be done on a clip by clip basis. We’ll you need 2 clips selected of course. The video and audio. The relationship of the timing is set by the Timecode or an in point you set on each clapper.
Then you get a new clip that is the video and audio together.

  • Sadly this is the risk with NLEs that store the whole project in one file.
Even auto save and auto backups can’t be relied upon. It’s imperative that end of session manual copies to alternate storage devices is rigidly followed.
It’s why I still cut on Avid. A project is just a folder that has actual bins in it I can copy out easily.

Doesn’t anyone make a premiere project repair app? Seems there would be a market for it.

The pixels are not square as they are in HD and UHD.
They are either 4:3 or 16:9aspect ratio pixels. Hence why you need a flag to indicate if they arec4:3 or 16:9

Yes. Expand the timeline control panel and the RTAS buckets appear.
Click on one and it will open the RTAS selection window.

The settings do look like they should work as expected.

Have you actually re-ingested your exported file and checked yourself there is a problem?

Or use media info and see if you are getting 8 tracks.

I’m on Avid but use PP sometimes.

  • The perimiere scopes are pretty hopeless for broadcast levels.

Maybe something like the Iris player

GrayMeta – Iris – Remote Content Playback, QC and Collaboration – https://www.graymeta.com/iris

Not sure if this works virtually.

If the upload process can rotate then that’s fine but the upload may just scale and or mask crop.
You output will be 1920 wide 1080 tall. But the uploaded will be unaware of the rotated content.
    Do a test is best.
