My experience with the footage firm templates:
I bought an AE template…there was a screw-up far down in the project. Spent hours and hours trying to figure it out. My motion graphics guy figured it out. Footage Firm never got back to me. Wasted a huge amount of time.
People like me who have a modest amount of AE skill need to be aware of this lack of support.

Just want to let you know the final score on this one.
The template was indeed screwed up. One of the layers had a mistake on it. I am far, far from being an AE expert and it took me hours to find the error…I am a relative newby trying to fix the work of someone far more skilled than I am.The template was exactly what I was look for…it was a photo animation template. I wrote to the seller, (as suggested above) footagefirm.com…and never received a reply. The template eventually worked fine but it was a hassle; I received no support from footage firm whatsoever.
Buyer beware.

As I said, I have use most all kinds of compression, including the Lagarith codec. Have not used the animation codec yet. Will try that this morning. As it will be player from a laptop and the whole project is about 90 seconds long…low or no compression show not be a problem…one presumes.

Thanks, Matt…I have one up and running now.
I may contact you…thanks very much for the offer.

Nick…I was intending to use a looping background as you suggest, but so far stretching the footage to 1.2 does not look bad…in my humble opinion…it is a shot of Puget Sound (trees/water/etc) at sunset…so maybe treating it in this manner may be less risky than other subjects.
Have not looked at it on a large 16:9 monitor yet though.

Thanks, Chris…I just spaced out putting my question in an editing forum…but it looks like the mixing the formats will behave as I suspected…thanks!

Well, my camera is a PD 150…I know…I hang my head in shame…I assure you that I am looking for an EX1 or EX3…
Your comment about the florescent lighting in Egypt was spot on….
You know, convention halls often have mercury vapor lights…still an ugly light but no flicker problems.Thank you for your time!

Thanks, Gary…I’m educating myself over the holidays about this stuff. Thanks again.

It’s now 11:30pm. I started suggested above around 5. With time out to make dinner I:
1. Uninstalled Quicktime.
2. Turned off Panda Antivirus
3. Uninstalled CS3 Production; CS3 Dreamweaver; CS4 Fireworks
4. Ran Adobe Clean Up utility both CS3 and CS4 versions
5. Machine reported that it needed MS Clean Up Utility to complete clean up operation.
6. MS site says that their utility is no longer available to use with 3rd parties.
7. Reinstalled CS3 Production.
8. Started AE. Did a test animation.Don’t know what solved the problem: AERes1.dll not loading. But it is working now; I wanted to document this for others.
Thanks to those that took the time to write.
