The Thunderbolt2 drives will run faster. BUT! I do not know how big of a difference it will make. I have been working with raw R3D files and its no speed issues on Thunderbolt1 as far as I’m concerned. I must address that my projects are never more than 10 minutes long, and usually its a single timeline.

I would say it depends on what you are working with. If you are working with huge file sizes, multicam, and so on, Thunderbolt2 might be a big difference.

If you are more into smaller projects like promotial videos, corporate stuff and music videos I would guess Thunderbolt1 will be good enough. Its been working like a charm for me at least!

I tried using third party disk utility software to format and setup the raid. It did help quite a bit for its stability. When formatted through the OS X disk utility it seems like the issues are more likely to happen.

This is no longer a concern tho, as we have changed gears over to AVID ISIS 5500

You are very right…

I think, if i still want to do this, i have to film it 3 seperate times.

1. Hands
2. Book
3. Laptop

I will need a string to pull the screen.. The hand movement is going to be the hard part.. Gonna give it a try

yes, in the script, the hands turn the book around before opening it up thats the plan 🙂

my plan, is to film the book and the laptop independently, on a perfectly lit, green surface. I am filming it in 50fps to make it easyer to sync up the movement on the two clips perfectly. It will hopefully give me what i need.
