November 22, 2010 at 9:52 pm in reply to: Reduce render time for iPhone 4 footage in FCP?Thanks.
Do you mean the Apple ProRes 422 under QT settings in Compressor? Not the advanced settings where you can differentiate between interlaced and progressive? (which does the iphone shoot in out of interest?
It’s still wanting to render the footage in FCP – but not taking as long…

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but can you explain the process you go through?
Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies.
OK, so in terms of creating a H.264 MP4 – how do I do this? I have only ever created H.264 straight from FCP? I see there is a setting in Compressor for MPEG4 under ‘Advanced Format Conversions” and “Quicktime 6 compatatble” – is this what you are refering to? I was hoping I would’t have to reduce the resolution in anyway and produce it at full quality, but I will reduce to the size you suggest if this works best.
Again, wouldn’t have a clue how to convert to HTML5? I guess I would need additional software?
Completely agree that a Mac user will probably try harder to get it to work.
Also, in terms of embedding an autoplay, not sure where I would start with this? Any ideas?
Thanks

October 4, 2010 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Best settings for video on a memory stick? On autoplay.Hi,
Thanks for all your replies.
The video will indeed be embedded on their website too, however, memory sticks will be given out to clients too.
If producing a H.264 will reach 95% of end users, based on them using a memory stick (and being allowed too!) then I will settle for that. To be honest, I wouldn’t know where to start when encoding a video with MPEG1 – I am imagining that it is not as simple as creating a H.264 QT using FCP?
In terms of the H.264, when it is mentined to use “some varation of H.264” I was planning on just using all the same setting as the origional video and simply pulling it out as a H.264 video using FCP – would you suggest something different?
It could be an idea too maybe to create a WMV in addition on the stick, or is this unnecessary?
Also, in terms of embedding an autoplay, not sure where I would start with this? Any ideas?
Thanks

A mixture of PC and Mac users I’m sure.

Thanks for that!
I will raise it with him. It only forms a 3 second clip out of a full 4 minute production and have replaced it with something suitable so he can simply pick that edit if he choses.
Good to know for the future.
In terms of the “©”, “â„¢” and “®” symbols, I realise they mean you cannot copy them in any way and use them for your own purposes, but I didn’t realise this extended to filming them!
Next your be telling me I need to get written permission from all the people I film, lol! The world of bureaucracy eh 🙂

Thanks for your reply. OK – so bar going back and getting a signed release or to camera permission from all 20 interviewee’s, I cannot get all the permissions. What is the consequences if I haven’t got a release and I promote the video? I am assuming people who have agreed to be filmed (all be it not captured on film) would be happy it being used for the purpose intended or they would not of agreed to give the interview. I filmed an event recently and it would of been impossible to collect all those recognisable.
Also, does a permission allow me creative freedom. I often cut about what people say to make it more concise.
PS – the film is literally a short 2 minute production to promote the work of a Council in the community. It is not to be sold.

Hi,
Thanks for this. Have had a look at the Mocha. Looks good, however, if I make clear black markers, then we should be OK with AE simply tracking those as there won’t be much movement in the image – hopefully!
In terms of the practicalities, I guess I mask the video that I want to go in the box and then place 4 motion tracking pins to the black pen marks on the board on the first video? I guess these can be behind the video rather then having to be at the edges (if that makes sense).
Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried using Key Light 1.2 in AE?
