Re it failing. It there anything to say if I do this the card should fail in the future. They will never forgive me if I fix it temporally only for it to fail on a major shoot later.

    Kind regards,

Thank you very much. Really appreciated.

Now, considering I could tell the techie exactly what happened (as in I used the card in a camera without adequate firmware and took the card out mid format), I think this is worth a short.

So just to be sure…I insert the card in to an SxS reader and literally click format media (or something similar?) then put the card back in the camera?

I guess because the card is only partially formatted at the moment, the camera will not recognise it.

Has there been any instance where this has not worked? (formatting in Windows?)

    – All at my own risk I know.

    Kind regards.

Hmm, could be a plan. You mean literally just FAT32 format the card and then insert into the Camera again? I like this plan, but could this do more harm then good?

Can’t do either really, it wouldn’t fit.

I guess this must be a common problem? G2 mics are very popular and there is no rhyme or reason for the spikes, so maybe this happens a lot?

Surely there is a way of editing out the spike? You can still hear him under the spike, so maybe adjusting the frequencies in some way?

    Hi,

I am having this same prob. Getting to 79% then stopping. I too had to remove the card. It seems for your post that the card works fine now. Although used on an ex1r recently with upgraded firmware, the card is no longer recognised and won’t format.

Did you do anything to sort the card out apart from re-formatting in the camera with upgraded firmware?

    Kind regards,

Lets hope not. Is this the type of event that professional indemnity insurance covers?

Had a quick google, but cannot find a relevant contact at Sony. Any ideas?

When you say damaged. Do you think it’s physically or software prob?

    Hi,

Not by my camera to check, but more then likely this is the case.

The cards should be able to be formatted in the EX1R though, which they worked correctly in before surely? The camera says it does not recognise the card.

Not good. Not good at all.

The cards are Sony though. Will the program you mentioned still work?

    Kind regards,

I did pull put the card while it was trying to format. I didn’t have a choice as it would not format.

Can it be repaired and if so, how?

    The lock isn’t on.
