UltraStudio Monitor and Recorder now TB3 and supports Rec2020

Ursa Mini Pro now a 12K camera using their own sensor design (not Bayer). According to Grant – focused on high-end “film” production and optimized for BMD RAW and Resolve pipeline.
Sensor is Super 35 with 14 stops. Uses equal number of RGB photosites as opposed to 4-2-2 Bayer design. 12K in order to get good 8K. You can scale (in-camera setting) from 12K to 8K to 4K without cropping sensor. Up to 110fps full sensor at 4K.
Demoed Multicam of 9 x 12K BRAW streams in Resolve on a 2019 Mac Pro
New “Generation 5” color science with new film curve optimized for BRAW. Improved skin tones.
Resolve public beta on site with 12K support.
Also on-board piggyback recorder for 12K camera. (Blackmagic Ursa Mini Recorder)

That’s a hypothetical based on a product that doesn’t exist. My question was whether it would be pointless for Apple to even develop FCPX for iPadOS at all.

Since there is an FCPXML interchange path, you could start in LF and finish in FCPX. Of course, if there were an iPadOS version of FCPX, then it becomes a toss-up. There are some nice features in LF, FWIW. The add’l mini-timeline and an audio mixer are nice features that FCPX lacks.

Along those lines, there’s also Adobe Rush, with both iPadOS and desktop versions. Seems those could also be brought into direct alignment.

I would tend to agree, but not everyone owns a laptop. There are quite a few people who have a desktop for home/office and a tablet for when they are away from that system. A decked out iPad Pro is cheaper than a MacBook Pro. Battery life is also better with an iPad Pro. Then there’s the touch/Pencil interface, which some will prefer.
Another example is Dan Lebental’s TouchEdit app. He’s a noted feature film editor who primarily uses Media Composer, which runs perfectly fine on a laptop. Yet he decided to develop an iPad app that he would use when away from his standard system. Unfortunately development lagged and LumaFusion has become the better (known as well as functional) NLE.
I guess it’s the same sort of question as, “Why would anyone shoot photos and videos with an iPhone when they could do it with a ‘real’ camera?” Preference and horses for courses.

It seems to me that these new switchers are particularly targeted towards the Asian market now and other markets in the future. Note the 8K capabilities, including 8K DVE. I personally have no use for 8K broadcast, but that’s still pretty impressive. So I would imagine that Grant is looking past the next 6 months to a year, and rather further into the future.
Remember that in this arena BMD is competing head-to-head with Grass Valley. They are by no means out of the business and are certainly still selling product.

Good information is getting harder to find, and it feels like less and less useful search engines are closer to the problem end of the spectrum than the solution end.”
There’s plenty of research pointing to how bad facial/image recognition really is. One simple example is that AI is pretty good at identifying images as people – largely because of all the selfies on the net taken from roughly the same position. But it’s much worse at identifying cats as cats. The theory being that images of cats come in all shapes, angles, and positions. Plus fur and color differences.
But in general – and pertinent to your dilemma – the internet is a terrible place for finding accurate historical information for anything that happened prior to the explosion of the internet. Most of that info only exists on the net through various archives and people who have posted the info as a passion on their own blogs.

It seems you are trying to find an identification starting from an image. I was talking about a regular old Google search entry and then seeing what associated images come up related to that entry.
