December 1, 2014 at 9:26 pm in reply to: Which Render Settings and Output Modul for Facebook ?Hi 🙂
In Render Settings I choose “Best Settings” and in Output Module I choose “Lossless”.
I then rendered it to my desktop.
Don’t know if maybe Facebook compresses the file or something, so the quality suffers.
Maybe it’s best to upload to Youtube instead and then just put in the link on Facebook.
Thanks 🙂

Thanks,
But whenever I try, I only seem to copy the MASK, meaning when I move it around, the cup doesn’t follow, see screenshots.
What have I misunderstood here ?
Here’s the first screenshot:
Then I make a Mask of the Cup:
Here I choose “Mode/None”:
I doubleclick on the Mask:
Dublicate and move it a bit:
Going nut’s here 🙁

Thanks,
When I do this, I only get a duplicate of the mask itself, meaning that if I move it around in the layer, I don’t get a copy of the Cup, but instead, of whatever is in the background, where the mask is at that moment.
What am I doing wrong here ?
Isn’t there a selection tool, where I can draw around whatever item and duplicate it, instead of dublicating the mask ? Something similar to the Clone Stamp tool, but where I can draw whatever pattern I want instead of the circle stamp ?

Sorry about that Dieter;
It could be anything. Say I have a Cup in the picture and I want to dublicate this Cup….. how do I do this ?
Meaning I want to have 2 Cups in the picture.
I have dived into the deep end of AE and am missing some of the basics here 😉

Hi Ted.
Thanks again for the detailed answer ! 🙂
I have now tried this, at my beginner level, and have made some screen shots and would highly appreciate it, if You would take the time, to go through my screen shots and tell me, where I am failing at.
1. Precompose the duplicate.
2. Inside the precomp apply Hue/Saturation and take down saturation.
3. Apply Levels and adjust to get good contrast.
4. Then go back to the main comp and on the initial layer apply the Channel/Set Matte effect and select the precomp as the source (Use For Matte set on Luminance and Invert Matte checked).
5. Go back in the Precomp and create a white and a black solid. Create garbage masks to fill in the character shapes and clean up the white.
I made it this far, I THINK, but don’t really know what to do next. Can You please describe further, what to do with the masks and if I have misunderstood part of the instructions ?
Thnx 🙂

Thanks Ted,
But I don’t quite understand 🙁
I get it, that I can make adjustments to optimize it. But before all that, should’nt it isolate the objects from the background, just by dragging this effect on to the composition and then AFTERWARDS I can make adjustments ?
Nothing happens when I just drag the effect on the comp.
