    Good Morning Chris,
Is it too much trouble if I ask you the for the precompiled version of IOzone?
    Thanks

There is many ways SPACE can be configured.
These cards can be added to the SPACE
Quad Copper 1Gb PCIe Ethernet card
Dual Channel Copper 10Gb PCIe Ethernet card (CX4) up to 5 HCA
Dual Channel SFP+ 10Gb card with 2 x LC optical SFP’s (up to 50M range)

1- Use the included 4 port GbE using Link aggregation on a switch then connect Client systems to the switch.

2- Use up to 5 10Gb dual port HCA and connect each client to one port.

3- Use the existing 4 Port GbE and connect each client directly without a switch.

4- Also there are options in the web GUI for link aggregation which
    I have not tested yet.

Test Results on a Space Mini with a single GbE I have connected 4 workstations and started transferring big chunks of files from all 4 workstations simultaneously and network monitor was showing 110~120 MB/s on each of the clients.
One other cool feature they have is called SPACE Echo which can be used for mirroring and redundancy, very promising product.

  • Hi Casey,
I can agree. Active Storage is the way to go. We have just finished an install using 4 Active storage blocks, FCP3 and OSX SnowL. WOrks like a charm. As far as support goes no worries, Active Storage Technical support has knowledge in the product and they can answer your questions. If you need any help please contact me.

    Hi Chris,
As many people mentioned, there are many solutions out there that can do the job. You have to make sure that you have the support of the dealer that sells you the solution.

Regarding the 8Gb fiber Atto, Qlogic have fiber cards and switch that is 8Gb the only questions remains is the storage capable of the delivering more bandwidth. in many cases you will not see much performance difference between 8Gb and 4Gb with a single storage array, it will increase the performance with a Pool of arrays.

On a long term if you invest into an 8Gb fiber switch and the SAN software the rest can be upgraded as you go in the future (Such as HBA’s and storage).

One more solution to look into is the Tiger MetaSan, it is a great software and a small SAN solution.

If you are interested to get some more feedback you can call me at 818-242-4996 x 112.

Hi Anne, 1st what type of project are you trying to work with? DV, HDV, HD?. Keep in mind that NAS has limitation of what it can deliver bandwidth wise.
To answer your question, make sure to have the render folders directed to your local drive, as far as the project file goes you have leave it on the NAS drive, but yet again the footage type is that determines the performance…. Hope I was helpful.
