Thank each of you most sincerely for all of your help. After finding out that what I was looking for was the “poster frame” it was easier to find the help references.

It is really hard to ask technical questions when you don’t know the names of things.

First move to the frame you want to use as the poster frame.

The poster frame can be set in FCP by choosing markers – set poster frame.
It can be set in Compressor by clicking the small icon on the lower right of the viewer window. Choose set poster frame.
It can be set in iTunes by right clicking on the image and choosing set poster frame. Then the need to rewind to the beginning to get it to start from the first frame is the first frame is not your poster frame.

I’m sure you all already knew this but I just learned it from you.

It would appear that you can not set the poster frame on an iPad. It has to be done using iTunes before uploading to the iPad.

So much to learn 🙂
