I’ve got to work on some other projects for a few days, but I will try the Gamma slider on the Color Corrector when I go back to finish the project.

This issue seems to be coming up again and again. Is there some way to make a stickie in this forum, for rendering issues with VP9/9.0a?

Hi Erling.

Lots of people are having rendering issues “Low on memory” in VP9.0 and 9.0a. Editing WMV files seems to exacerbate the issue, but others have this problem even without .wmv. (I had problems with AVCHD in 9.0, but 90a resolved my problem.)

I still have to set Dynamic RAM preview to 0 (I just leave it there), reboot the machine (to defrag the paging file), close all other unnecessary applications, and kill Anti-virus/Internet Security. Then it seems to render for me. However, there are four or five other folks on this forum actively experiencing the same issue. One of them may be a problem related to using a Dell (which has non-standard parts), but the others report that this error is new to them with 9.0a (i.e., they did not experience it before).

Another thing you can do is to check your paging file, and set it at static (1.5 times the size of your RAM, both beginning and maximum settings). It has also been suggested that reloading Windows may help.

Also, most important is to report the problem to Sony, https://www.custcenter.com/cgi-bin/sonypictures.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php, so their software engineers can work on a bug fix for 9.0b. Please give them as much information as you can.

Until Vegas 9.0a update, the rendering does not crash anymore with “out of memory”, nor the application.
But, the result is still having problems playing back on several device.

So, “our” problem, is NOT an installation problem… sounds like a bug in the Sony AVC encoder ?

OK, have you reported to Sony?

If it is a bug, the only way they will know about it is if it gets reported.

Olivier, Nathan, Etienne, and Jim,

How fresh/clean are your installs of Vegas?

I have VP9a installed on a laptop with a ton of other stuff, and it crashes all the time. I have the same VP9a installed on a desktop, as a clean install and almost nothing else, and it seems to run.

It’s just a question to consider.

Thanks. Just bringing the track level down to 96% seemed to help a lot.

I kept trying to get 95%, but it wanted to jump from 96 to 94. Is there any way to set it by typing it in?

Mike, I checked both Drop Shadow, and Outer Glow. The text has a nice charcoal halo around it, but for some reason it also has a white halo outside of the charcoal one.

How can I get the charcoal halo, without the white one?

Outer glow specs:
Blend Mode is screen
Opacity 75%
Noise 0%
Technique Softer
Spread 40%
Size 40%
Quality is Contour
Range is 50%
Jitter is 0%

Drop Shadow
Blend mode is Multiply
Opacity 75%
Distance 5 px
