March 12, 2013 at 2:11 pm in reply to: Third monitor – MC 6.5 with mxo2 mini or nvidia 600 seriesThanks James for sharing your experience about using an AJA Kona LHi or Kona LHe. Although I’m afraid the price may be an issue for me, I will check it out.
As Daniel suggested by his experience Avid can output to a third monitor. By the way, my local dealer (who specializes in video and audio editing systems) said it can be done. I sure do hope so and will try to see if avid can confirm it is possible.
Thanks again,

To be honest, $1,000 seems a bit too much for my purposes [being a home-studio working on one documentary at a time].
Do you have any thoughts about using a 600 series graphic card with addition outputs? It’s about $500 and I’m hoping it can be a good solution for a third screen playing my timelines at full screen.

It looks like the cheapest and most simple way is buying one of the 600 series that has additional outputs.

followed by this message “Exception: std::exception, what: AVCHD AudioDecoder : 8aea0099”

I get this message “Exception: std::exception, what: AVCHD Reader : 8000ffff” with a few files trying to simply “link to AMA files”.

Thanks Shane.
I see that ClipWrap is for MAC and I’m working on a PC.
Any other thoughts? Maybe a solution within MC 6.5?
As for the future – I made it clear for the photographer why it’s important to keep the card structure.

Hey Job an Jack,
I’m beginning to understand that if I want “to do it right” there’s no cheep solution, so I’ll buy MC6 from Avid directly.
Also, as Jack commented, I asked my dealer to add a Blue Ray burner.I got into checking the I/O issue and I realized that Avid can’t support a third monitor… Do you think that adding the Matrox MXO2 Mini would be a good and sufficient solution?
https://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mxo2_mini/
That way I can use two screens for Avid working space and a third one through the Matrox as a Calibrated monitor?
Do you know any other products you would recommend?
Or if it would be better to get an internal PCI-express product for the job?
Thanks again for your helpful replies,

Hey Job ter Burg,
Thanks for the quick and detailed response.
I understand from your reply that the spec is pretty good and as long as my dealer can support the system I’m good. All of my projects are kept usually on the system drive and the media files stored on external HDD [either usb3 or eSATA]. The 2TB HDD is for “just in case” purposes, and anyway the price difference between 2TB HDD and a smaller one is not that big.
Any other thoughts or specific components you would change?
Thanks again,
Noam AmitBy the way, I saw this on ebay and I couldn’t figure out the pricing issue.

As you probably know MC6 is sold at 2,099 euro on avid.com.

Hey Job ter Burg,
found Edprep and used it. Same problem continues…
Any ideas?

Hey Job ter Burg,
thanks for the quick reply.
Can’t say that I have tried EditPrep.
Where can I find it? Do I need to disable any particular features?
Thanks,
Noam
