To amplify Jan’s statement, I still shoot regularly on my original DVX100 (not a nor b) and it rocks. So the idea that you’ll be a guinea pig or not get the best cam by choosing the initial version is simply not the case with Panasonic. Can’t speak for every company in that arena of course…

Just about any decent DVD authoring program will- DVDSP on the Mac, Sonic on PC, etc. Motion menus.

I’d go with the DVX. HVX’s are going to be nearly impossible to find by your shoot date and there won’t be a Firestore until early next year meaning you’ll have to spend a boatload in P2 cards.

Yup- I think the SDX900 rocks bigtime but it like most pro broadcast cams is not exactly lightweight. Worth a practice run to make sure it’s working for you personally as opposed to the Prosumer 24p cams like the DVX100.

It is 24p “baked” into 60i NTSC compatible video. Do a google search if you’d like to learn more about exactly how the camera works.

If you are staying in the NTSC world you can simply leave the pulldown intact and treat as 29.97. If you wish to go native 23.98 you would need to remove the pulldown manually. In FCP for example you’d use CinemaTools.
