The iPad will work in conjunction with the iMac a lot more harmoniously. Tablets in general are optimized more for content consumption than creation. But the end result depends greatly on what it is you hope to accomplish on one vs. the other.

I see what you mean but it’s not a specific way the app was designed to work. If I had to work that way I would just copy/paste and trim in the timeline.
And feel free to send feedback to Apple. Stuff doesn’t change overnight but if you’re not the only person in the world requesting something it might get addressed.

My suggestion would be test on a single machine so you confirm the specifics of your workflow. My suspicion is that it’s unlikely that XDCAM discs are being used much anymore and there not thoroughly tested in HS- but I could be wrong.

Correct- the Event viewer will switch to previewing a project frame if you open double click in the Event browser to another project timeline. It will retain focus on a clip if you use the Timeline history controls to toggle between recently opened projects instead however. The little arrows that appear in the center of the window just above the timeline itself.

There are two viewers in X. One will just show whatever’s under the play had currently the other can be fixed to clips in the Event browser- make sure you have both active.

That said I cannot think of any real-life editorial scenarios in which having a fast as possible GPU wouldn’t be preferable.

Yeah pretty much no DVD player will play those- desktop DVD players kinda sorta but at that point just share on a Flash drive. If you want to make a DVD- make a DVD. 720×480 is it (assuming NTSC of course).
