XDCAM Disc and High Sierra import?
Are you importing physical XDCAM discs using High Sierra?
Before I upgrade my company Mac to High Sierra and the newest Final Cut Pro X, I need to make sure that the driver for recognizing the drive with the XDCAM disc mounted is recognized. I know the other drivers aren’t working but now that FCPX will import the media from the physical XDCAM disc as long as High Sierra can ‘see’ the XDCAM disc and mount it, I need to make sure that the driver for the XDCAM disc drive works under High Sierra.

My suggestion would be test on a single machine so you confirm the specifics of your workflow. My suspicion is that it’s unlikely that XDCAM discs are being used much anymore and there not thoroughly tested in HS- but I could be wrong.

I am running up against the same questions and wonder if by now you have found the answer about High Sierra’s compatibility. I was OK with El Capitan but have had to buy a new laptop for the road -which has Sierra installed.

I’m monitoring the Japanese site to see when Sony will update its XDCAM driver. v5.0.8 is not High Sierra compatible. When the number increments higher, then it’s likely ready for High Sierra.
