Same as any other footage- try to get the least amount of compression and the highest resolution relative to your project settings.

DROBO/QNAP would never be my recommendation for use with FCPX. Areca and Promise is where it starts to get decent and from there on up.

Not really sure what that would look like but you can copy keyframed animations between clips with paste attributes.

Really depends on your hardware. FCPX rocks at this on decent hardware. But older versions of FCP7/Premiere Pro you’d likely need to batch transcode to 1080p before ingesting. You could use Compressor or the QuickTime Player itself to do this. But be ready for lots of waiting…

Make sure the original library had media ingested into it and not ‘left in place.’ The latter is what this sounds like.

You could always walk into an Apple Store with example files on a hard drive and check your desired workflow for yourself. Apple just revved the iMac and the 5K Retina display is relatively kind of a bargain…

How were those shots created? Were you running separate audio continuously and stopping and starting the camera to reframe? Be much better to just keep rolling as you change camera position/lens setting. Anyways- if these are all shots from the same moment of action and they all match the audio, you should be able to use a Multicam clip instead of a synced clip.
