Advice? That sounds like something you’d highly benefit from spending a few hours 1:1 on with someone if you really want to take things to the next level. That said- if shooting is still ongoing, I’d at least suggest adding Lumberjack into the mix asap:

Advice? For something like that it would be good to know the overall length of the project, the amount of footage being acquired and how much collaboration would be required along the way. Also is production already completed or is it about to begin? That’s also a key consideration as a lot of major timesaving can be achieved for post with decent pre-production workflow planning.

+1 for Jeremy’s workflow. that said- I find more than a few snapshots to be a waste of energy as you rarely go back to any but the most recent.

As long as you are set to use Optimized in the Viewer you are always using the Optimized version if it exists. If it doesn’t you’ll see the red missing file warning in the viewer- meaning that version is either missing or wasn’t generated. Really it’s one of those things that just works in FCPX with little babysitting.

Those are meant to give you time to shut down safely in a power outage, not be a backup generator. I’d be surprised if you got more than an hour. Most of those units come with software to automatically shut the computer down in case you’re away when the power goes out.

The inspector always reports the format of the original media not the optimized version.

What’s the question? I assume you are asking how long the battery backup will last? Hard to say without knowing the model # and manufacturer’s claim.
