Thanks for all your help guys. I have revised the suite to:

    – MacPro (2008), 8x 2.8GHz, ATI Graphics
    – 2GB additional RAM
    – Dell 2407WFP 24″ Monitor
    – Final Cut Studio 2
    – Blackmagic Intensity Pro
    – JVC 15″ Monitor TM-H150CGE
    – RAID-0 3x 500GB Seagate SATA HDD
    – Sennheiser eH350 Headphones
    – Behringer MS40 Monitors

Total: AU$7854 (already have the dell, speakers and headphones)

I opted for the JVC CRT instead of the Sony LUMA LCD given that everyone seems to loath the LUMA’s.

I had a limited budget so i think this is reasonable suite. It is replacing a Pentium 4 Premiere system with no monitor or capture card…

My only concern is the Intensity Pro that monitoring through an Intensity vis Y/C to the monitor wont be as colour accurate as a Decklink or Kona card.

    Any final comments?

    Thank you Russell and Walter.

It seems the Kona LHe is the right card. It does digibeta “right” and will output HD RGB Component to the Sony LMD-2030W for HDV monitoring. (The HDMI input of the Intensity is null given that HDV can be capture to prores over firewire.)

I am wondering however if I can save $1300 by getting the Decklink HD Extreme. Do you know if the Sony LMD-2030W accepts the HD YUV Component out of the Decklink HD extreme. Sony’s documentation is inconsistant sometimes listing only RGB and not YUV… there is a difference right?

    Anyone?
