April 21, 2017 at 11:32 pm in reply to: Vegas Pro 13: stops responding when importing many 1080P clipsI have had the same experience. The only solution I have found is to import small groups of files. I think I could do around 30-40 without issue. I just grouped them based on the date of the files.
My system specs: Intel i7 7700k 4.20 GHz, GTX570, 16GB RAM, Gigabye Z170 HD3, Vegas Pro 12 (x64), Windows 10 x64 Pro, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6

Have they disappeared or are they hidden? I sometimes notice that if I ALT-TAB away from Vegas to say, Excel, the Ultimate S Pro buttons I have placed on the main toolbar ‘disappear’, but if I hover where they are supposed to be, the labels pop up and the buttons do work. They just become transparent. Restarting Vegas for me has been the only remedy as well as not ALT-TABbing away :-).
I have noticed this if I leave Vegas minimized for a period of time, say when I am taking a lunch break. Same fix as above.

March 30, 2017 at 1:18 am in reply to: GPU acceleration of video processing not detect my deviceI think Aaron is right. I don’t get the video acceleration option on my i7 laptop either, which has an ATI Radeon HD5730 1GB video card (only 620 Gflops). I suspect most laptops will not have enough ‘grunt’ because that typically equates to high power consumption, heat and shortened battery life.
I could be wrong, but possibly the Alienware series of laptops may have had that sort of GPU power at a high price, but I suspect most run-of-the-mill consumer laptops will be underpowered.
BTW, I initially didn’t get video acceleration on my recently rebuilt desktop with an Nvidia GTX570 on Windows 10 Pro, but that got rectified once I updated the video drivers from Nvidia.

March 28, 2017 at 1:44 am in reply to: SVP 13 render extremely slow after M$ patches (I think)The most recent Nvidia update seems to work nicely in my system now. I only use QT 7.65 as the latest update (7.79 I think) was causing Vegas to crash/hang when trying to import MP4 files or even playback MP3’s from the Vegas Explorer.
For the first time since Vegas 10 I am now able to use GPU acceleration during editing! I now get a crash when exiting Vegas, but that is fine as I have already saved everything and my next action was to shut down the system anyway.

March 27, 2017 at 4:18 am in reply to: SVP 13 render extremely slow after M$ patches (I think)I would try disabling GPU acceleration during editing and rendering on the slow computer to see if that improves Vegas’ stability and speeds things up during rendering.
Windows 7 was my preferred platform, but when my system died recently, I had no choice but to go to Windows 10 as I was unable to reinstall the O/S with my licence key. I skipped Windows 8. It is a Windows Vista equivalent as far as I can tell, and just as buggy. Have you considered rolling back to Windows 7 then upgrading one of the systems to Windows 10 instead to see if the issue persists?

It would help to know your system specs, and whether you have enabled either hardware or software RAID.
You might want to run up performance monitor and see if your disk i/o is poor. When I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 via the free upgrade, the M$ drivers for my RAID were running at only 2MB/s i.e. worse than USB 1!
If you are doing a lot of color correction on every single event, that would slow things down.
Lastly, what output/template are you using? We might be able to suggest something or a better template to use.

March 23, 2017 at 11:25 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 13 – Needing advice on converting .MOV to MP4[Mike Graves] “tried to convert it to .MP4 but it immediately finished with an error”
I was converting iPhone footage, but haven’t tried anything else. I did notice visual artefacts on fast movements using ffmpeg, particularly in low light situations where the iPhone was self-adjusting the frame rate to maintain exposure. I was glad to get something better than no video at all or a video preview that was dropping out in Vegas.
I guess if Handbrake does what you want and preserves both audio and video quality, I guess the larger file sizes are a trade-off. There may be a tweak in Handbrake but I am not aware of it. I have used it to convert DVD9 to MP4 but did not pay too much attention to the file sizes I have to admit.

QWinff is by no means perfect. As I discovered, my iPhone adjusts the frame rate in low light situations and the strobing and visual noise was very bad when there was lots of panning and fast movement. Static or slow moving shots were generally okay after conversion. I need to find an iPhone app that allows me to fix the fps to 50!
Or buy and Mac and go FCP!

March 22, 2017 at 11:30 am in reply to: Sony Vegas Pro 13 – Needing advice on converting .MOV to MP4Sorry, I think I may have confused the issue. I believe QWinFF simply calls ffmpeg. You don’t need to know how to use ffmpeg. QWinFF adds a GUI front end. You can try it on its own.
It is a simple 2 step process: You add the files into a queue and the decide how to convert them and then start the conversion. The documentation over complicates the process, unfortunately, so here’s my quick version.
Run QWinnFF
1. Click File> Add Files
Select one or more of your MOV files then click Next2. In the Output settings screen, select MP4 from the Convert to field
Choose the ‘Output to source folder’ radio button. This means the MOV to MP4 converted file is placed in the same folder.Click Finish.
This process simply queues your files up until now. If you want to start the actual conversion, you highlight the file(s) and click on Start.
If you want to add more files in a different folder location (I had about 10 folders) you repeat steps 1 and 2 before clicking Start

That works, too, just hope you don’t have to re-edit your multicam too many times… .
