Sounds like you have lost your audio peaks. From the View menu, choose Rebuild Audio Peaks to rebuild peak files (.sfk) for all audio events in your project.

Shift-F5 is the keyboard shortcut 🙂

My question, too. I film ice skating events: the PA system is terrible and the venue is echoey. I typically have to sync up an MP3 audio track to improve the audio.

I guess I could give PluralEyes a free trial run.

Colour curves and fbmn software exposure will correct lightly blown out details, but not excessive blow outs. I do a lot of theatre work with spot lights and we sometimes have to expose the highlights at expense of the surrounding detail. ND filters are a must outdoors.

You could try and mask the camera operator’s mistake by applying a Vegas soft contrast filter with a vignette and heavy tint (it is one of the standard presets) with a colour curve adjsutment, and make it appear to be an intentional effect.

It depends on your motherboard make and model, which will provide information on how you can populate your memory slots. It is also not a good idea to mix RAM of different brands and speeds as they can destabilise your system.

Michal, laptop displays make terrible playback screens as they have not been properly calibrated for colour. If you are a serious video editor, you will need to use something like a DataColor Spyder monitor calibrator.

It can be used for your LCD, laptop or CRT.
