    Thanks everybody for your answers. I’ve blagged favours at the state broadcaster and have found an HDCAM deck and a Final Cut mac with an AJA card. I’m redigitising to pro res off the master tapes. Phew.

    Thanks. You know what I like about this solution? It gives a sprawling, dithering project an immovable end date. And it’s free. (:
