Thanks Simon, problem solved!

Hi Simon,
Thanks very much for your help. Actually I liked the Ken Burns effect but the problem is that it lasts the entire length clip and there’s no way to adjust it: for example no way to have the Ken Burns effect stop and then resume. That’s why I had to resort to doing the animation myself.
But I’ll take your advice and try it in Motion. There are many things to love about FCP X but unfortunately the program is extremely limited at this stage. I already sent feedback to Apple telling them that the much needed updates can’t come a minute too soon!

July 3, 2011 at 3:08 pm in reply to: FCP X Advice needed: Organizing Metadata Keywords for WWII doc-filmHere’s another example where I took a screen shot of my FCPX Events Browser window showing an instance where I had tagged “Hitler” in different sources clips/events I have. But in one event “Hitler” appears four times, just wondering why FCPX keeps repeating the name of the master clip/event four times when it need only list it once. Just wondering.

July 3, 2011 at 3:05 pm in reply to: FCP X Advice needed: Organizing Metadata Keywords for WWII doc-filmHi Michael,
Thanks very much for your input. Regarding keywords in FCPX, if the same keyword appears multiple times in the the same event/clip, why does FCP X keeping repeating the name of the master clip for every instance of the keyword:
For example if “FDR” appears 5 times in the event/clip “New Deal”, the FCPX Events Browser window in list format lists it this way:
New Deal
FDR
New Deal
FDR
New Deal
FDR
New Deal
FDR
New Deal
FDRI wish it could be listed this way:
New Deal
• FDR
• FDR
• FDR
• FDR
• FDR -

July 3, 2011 at 2:44 pm in reply to: FCP X Advice needed: Organizing Metadata Keywords for WWII doc-filmHi Ron,
Thanks for your help. My angle is more Rommel’s evolution from “Hitler’s General” to becoming implicated in the July 20, 1944 plot. I was fortunate enough to personally interview his son Manfred in 1999 but it was only an audio interview and the sound quality wasn’t good. Wish I’d had my Zoom H4N recorder back then.

July 2, 2011 at 5:06 pm in reply to: FCP X Advice needed: Organizing Metadata Keywords for WWII doc-filmHi Ron, thank you very much for your advice. It’s about Erwin Rommel. That’s why I’d be using keywords like “DAK, Africa, Kesselring, Mussolini, Hitler, British Army, RAF, etc”
The project was started in FCP7, but given the fact that I have hundreds of clips, and given one of FCP X’s main advantages being media organizing, I thought it might be best to continue what I started in FCP X.
Sure there’s no XML now, but didn’t Apple confirm that it’s coming soon?

Hi Jeremy,
But if I use Compressor to upconvert that would take forever. I’ve got hours of footage to upconvert that’s why I’m using my Kona LHi. Can I just use Compressor to reverse telecine to 24p on the upconverted footage?
