i use the Macro App QuickKeys.
there are others,
AUtomator (built into your mac) might be an option, i don’t know.

you program a series of shortcuts and other instructions, and trigger them off.

in this case it’s a very simple Macro

i start with the first title double clicked into the viewer.
with the controls tab active

then the macros runs like this:

Tab (moves to text entry area)
Apple C (copy text)
Shift Apple [ (move to video tab of viewer)
Apple 9 (open item properties)
Apple V (paste text to generator name)
Enter
Pause (pauses are important in programming the macros)
Down Arrow (jumps Viewer window to next title)
Shift Apple } (move to Controles tab in viewer)

and you are back at the start.
you can program this to repeat.

of course you way STILL have subtitles with the same name, as there could be subs with the same words
“No” or “Yes” spring to mind

sorry, i don’t really know after effects,
but with what i first suggested you would not have an empty track,
you would have a track completely made up of titles generators, but half of them would be blank.

making your track sizes bigger can help,
use Shift T to cycle though the 4 sizes.

the viewer window gives you an even bigger area to work as Dave says.

some times anther than moving a keyframe i will just add a new one we her i would move it to, then delete the old one.
i ad the new key-frame with Option Apple K, and delta the lot by option clicking on it.

believe it or not there IS a tiny amount of stickiness to the keyframes, that is supposed to keep them from slipping around too much as you move them
holding SHIFT actually makes them LESS sticky.

i try to name my text generators after what the text is,
but i have a macro to help with that.

cut some stills into your 720 edit sequence and manipulate them.
then select that section, and open up Media Manager

use “Create Offline”
and set sequences to your 1080 settings.

you’ll be asked to create a new project,
and when you open it the stills should still be connected

MM usually upscales any motion effects on Video,
but i’m not sure how it will handle still images.

media managing your sequence may scale up you motion effects on the stills.
give it a test and see how it goes.

yes, if you go to DV, it’s ones & zeros so no re-compression at all,
BUT
you are tailing about ARCHIVE, and the Digibeta tapes will probably last longer.
because they are huge, and not so fragile.

are you exporting your entire subtitles track as a TIFF image sequence?

would it not be possible to just export each subtitle as a single TIFF file,
and provide an EDL of the track?

however,
if you need to proceed the way you are going, a possible solution wield be to put a BLANK title generator in all the gaps between your subs.

here’s how to do it quick
open the text generator (control X)
with no in/outs in your timeline, copy/ paste, or OPTION DRAG, the duration ftom the canvas to the Text
it’s now as long as you show.

edit it into your show to an empty track beneath the subs
might be wise to name it something appropriate at this stage

select all the subs,
SHIFT drag them down one track, eating into the blank text generator.

now you have one continuos track of text, alternating between text and blank,
which might export the way you need

test a smal section first, of course.

on one video track, yes. on multiple video tracks, no.

personally i think the “dragging away to reveal” method of multi cam it not good.
you are left with a bit of a mess to work with, when it comes time to fine-cut

i prefer keeping the bank of shots intact, and building a simple 1 track edit on a top layer
makes it way easier when you cone to do a second pass,
especially if you want to quickly re-look at your rushes.

and as you are discovering, the way you *think* you want to work is not simple, anyway

so you blade all (control V) where you want to cut,
option+shift drag the layer you are interested in up to your edit track.

BETTER
blade all at the cut
park on the though edit
double click clips into the viewer. this way you audition your angles
when you like one,
F10 to edit it onto a top-level target track

one slight drawback with longer clips is the overwrite edit will put you at the END of the clip, and you have to get back to the edit point.
with a lot of shorter cup in the timeline that;s a lot of up-arrowing

on simple solution is to select the end of the clip and hit the up arrow once
that wil take you directly to the START of the clip.

another, better, solution (with no mousing) is Q, F
q bounces you to the viewer, which is still the head of the new shot
F match frames back to the same frame in the timeline.

now that you have a single track edit you can actrulay refine the cut with rolling to trim windrow,
or wait till you have done awhile pass and easily go thru & refining your entire edit.
