That’s the ticket! Thank you so much! I’ll let you know if I run into any other problems.

Right, nothing happens. When I drag the files over the window I see that blue outline showing there are files about to be dropped into the window, but as soon as I let go of the mouse no files appear there.

Ha hah! That is just the information I was looking for!

I hadn’t tried it yet – I was in the middle of a 3 hour duplication which I just stopped knowing that the program doesn’t affect the files. I’m just a bit paranoid because we already lost these files once.

I’m having trouble using Atomic Fusion. First I try dragging my MXF files into it and nothing happens. Then I keep clicking Selection -> FCP, and nothing happens there either.

I thought that was the only Atomic Fusion window, but then I noticed another one with a couple small icons, one green, one blue, and both with a triangle/curve design on them. I got the files into an FCP project using these icons, but my audio and video files are still separated…

So I now have access to MXF4mac, and Atomic Fusion. When I open up Atomic Fusion, I see a black, semi-transparent window with buttons “Selection -> FCP” and “All -> FCP.” I’m assuming that if I drag all my recovered MXF files into the window and click “All -> FCP” then I will see the MXF files as videos in FCP – with the audio now linked – and be able to edit them.

Is this how it should look/work? (I wasn’t able to find any manuals)

I don’t see any MXF4mac stuff in System Preferences.

But when I try to open MXF4mac Player from my applications folder the full message is “MXF Import is not enabled. MXF4mac Player requires MXF Import QT to read MXF files.

Gotcha. I found free trials for MXF4mac and Atomic Fusion, but when I open them I get a message telling me I need to buy MXF Import QT.

Since my company doesn’t want to buy the software, I’m going to see what I can do here on the Avid.

Yeah, it’s set to dynamic right now, but I think the problem must have been with the project files. I started a new project using the same media and everything was running smooth. Other projects are working fine now too. Weird.

But thanks a lot for your help on this – I’ll keep your words in mind next time I run into something.

I rebooted a couple of times, but it’s not helping. And I’d rather not delete my prefs… is there any way around that?

I just tried to actually play the clip and the “Warning – Dropped Frames” message popped up. It suggested I turn off Unlimited RT, only problem is it’s already off – it’s set to Safe RT right now. But I’m still getting the spinning wheel every time I try to move the playhead.
