No not the system, already changed computers, re-installed then updated all the software etc. I think it has to do with a combination of all the different codecs and the size of the project, roughly 175mbs.
It a documentary with 200 hours of footage, Many many sequences etc.

The majority is XDCam but I’ve been cutting in XDCam sequences and it’s still crashing.

The reason I don’t want to just render to Pro Res is I want to eliminate the XDCam codec all together for the offline edit because I have found it to be completely unstable in FCP and causes crashes several times a day. I have experienced this on 2 projects now where XDCam has been mixed with other codecs in the same timeline.
I think transcoding is the only option for the offline…

Ok thanks, and I should do this Extended, NOT journaled, correct?

So given that this may be unstable on these G-techs, how should I rebuild?

Ok once again I was told the wrong thing by the producer, sorry…so the drives were striped as one and made a RAID 5, not 0+1.

Still suggest trying to format as NON journaled? I’m also on phone with G-tech support but they are stumped so far.

    Thanks.

Ok made a mistake. They are set up as 8 striped drives. It comes up on the desktop as 1 drive. It says there is 7TB capacity, 2.25 remain.

    Any suggestions now? thanks.

Ok. So other codecs will play more fluidly unrendered in a pro res sequence? It’s a big choice to make so just want to be sure before I begin editing. Thanks so much.

    Thank you.

Project is only 139mb and I made sure to have only one sequence open, still took 6 minutes. There are dozens of sequences in the project in general because we were working with hundreds of individual clips (P2 etc) so master sequences were created to view footage more fluidly.
Could that be the issue? I’ve worked that way before (using lots of master sequences) and loading time still want this long. I like you’re idea of creating seperate projects with sequences I won’t be using regularly. Thanks again.
