They’re actually RAID 0s, so I really should have just said 3 cloned drives. All three are loaded with all media, and are a perfect copy of one another. It (normally) allows us to work with three editors simultaneously on different parts of the film.

As for the drives, I find three cloned RAID 0s the easiest/safest/cheapest way to maintain triple redundancy of all media.

Whoa, simple as that, that did it. We’ve been importing with the import command this whole time, but dragging straight from the media browser does the trick. I wonder why there’s a problem with the other method when they’re ostensibly the same process.

Solved! Turns out it was the Snow Leopard Security Update – there was a Rosetta issue that Apple resolved immediately, and now everything is fine. Restored the apps from backups and it’s all peachy.
