Hey David, thanks for all the info! I’ll definitely give all your suggestions a shot.

I’ve rendered with both GPU accel on and off with same results. However, I’ll have to check to see if I have the latest drivers. Sometimes I let video drivers fall by the wayside.

The footage I use is .m2ts from either a NEX-VG20 or a Hauppauge PVR. I’ve used this file type countless times before with no issues, albeit on an older version and older computer.

I never even thought about changing the thread settings, but I’ll give it a go. Also, I’ll change the memory buffer. I think it’s set to 300 at the moment.

And finally, I’ll try the simplest first and render to an HDD instead of an SSD. I got the SSD specifically for quicker rendering times, but I’d much rather have a completed product that takes longer to render than nothing at all.

Thanks again for everybody’s input thus far.

I’ll throttle my CPU back to stock, but let’s just say I won’t hold my breath. I’ve been OC’ing my processors since forever and been using Vegas since version 5 and this is the first time I’ve ever had an issue. However, with that being said, I still hope that you’re right because I can’t take another day of this. I might have to do the unthinkable and move to…Adobe Premiere.

[Jay Allen] “when I turned on Cuba it rendered”
    What does that mean?

Codecs? Blah, I never touch the stuff.

No other NLE have been installed on this system. However, when going through the reinstall process I realized I made a bonehead mistake: I never uninstalled Vegas 11! D’oh! Sadly though, after uninstalling Vegas 11 and reinstalling Vegas 12, the problem still persists. The only work around I found is to render the project piecemeal in 1080p/60fps, then re-render the clip in whatever format I want it (like .mp4). Nothing else works without it going ballistic.

I’d be much happier if it through out an error and didn’t render at all, at least I would have something to work with. Instead, I receive a finished painting of a portrait where somebody has smeared red paint with their fingers all over it. It’s depressing.

No reinstall yet. I was trying to avoid that. I’ll attempt a reinstall and respond with a follow-up later.
