Shane is correct.
If you are using a deck make sure it is setup to output HDV. It could have been left on output DV…hence FCP giving the error message “unable to locate the following external devices: HDV (1440X1080) 60i”
because FCP is isn’t detecting HDV.

Hi Erin!
Try using your easy setup in Final Cut Pro
Choose –> HDV1080i60
Also be sure that your camera menu settings aren’t down converting your HDV footage to DV

In my humble opinion…
I remember being very excited by Sheervideo but then Apple (so to speak) beat them to the punch.
It was my impression that ProRes stole Sheervideos thunder by filling it’s intended role along with RT effects in FCP.
ProRes basically does what Sheervideo was trying to do.
But since ProRes was engineered along with the folks at Apple, and AJA my recommendation is to use ProRes instead.

Hi Roberto!
If you use the NTSC DV 720×480 (with Guides) Preset you are using a rectangle pixel.
Photoshop refers to this as a pixel aspect ratio of DV1/DV NTSC 0.9
Which is a fancy way of saying you are using a rectangle pixel.
The message on the screen is reminding you that you are working in a non-native pixel ratio on a computer screen. Computers use square pixels.
DV video uses rectangle pixels.If you create your graphics and bring them into Final Cut Pro you should have no issues.
If you not familiar with Photoshop you can always use the text generator in Final Cut Pro instead.

Your Photoshop frame size doesn’t match. Also I’m guessing your pixel ratio is square when it should be rectangle.
In Photoshop:
Go to File -> New ->
Use the NTSC DV 720×480 (with Guides) Preset.

The thing I liked the most about the Google spot was the subtle use of Sound Effects in the background.
Examples; When searching for “Study abroad Paris France” we overhear the noise of an airplane and a loudspeaker announcement at an airplane terminal.
When searching for “long distance relationships” we hear a phone ring twice. A girl picks up and says “Hello” with a French accent.
Subtle but nicely done.
Also the music slowly builds and gives a nice heartbeat pace to the whole spot. It resolves nicely on a major chord.
I thought this spot easily was the cheapest of the night yet it was
the most original and effective.Kudos to whomever created this spot!

I agree. The Google “Parisian Love” spot, was the only spot that stood out in my mind.
