  • Hi Amie
Thank you for your response. I meant :
How I conncect for copying from HDCAM SR VTR to Hard drives via Kona 3.
1/ Do I need Final Cut Pro ? If yes, must I capture each shot ? If I capture the whole contents (whole number of shots) the clip will be too heavy to edit ?
2/ Can I copy directly, without FCP, from HDCAM SR to Hard Drive via Kona 3 the whole shots in a time

  • Hi Shane,
To answer to your question :
Nhan Nguyen Dinh] “2/ Can I copy directly, without FCP, from HDCAM SR to Hard Drive via Kona 3 the whole shots in a time”

Sure, with VTR Exchange, AJA’s capture and playout tool. But why not use FCP if you are going to edit with FCP? You are, aren’t you?

Answer : I have finished Editing (Edit with copy DVCAM from HDCAM SR + EDL Grading etc…)
Now I want to have 2 securitiy storages : Tapes and Hard drives
Thank you for help and excuse me for my lack of precision in my questions

  • Hi Shane,
    Thank you for your informations.

Exactly : I desire to have more security : store my shots HDCAM SR in both HDCAM SR tapes and in Hard drives.

  • Hello Jeremy
    Question :
Have you ever captured video from tape before?
Answer :Yes, via FCP (Capturing) for example from DSR 11 VTR to Mac via FCP.

My exact question was : Can we copy directly from Kona3 to Hard drive WITHOUT FCP
    Best regards
    Waiting for your suggestion

    Hi Walter,
Following your advice, I have watched the very good Primatt tutorial which convinces me much.
May I ask you your opinion about this :
Before posting on Creative Cow, I visited the website of PHYX Keyer, I copy this Website about the functions comparison of Phyx Keyer with Primatte, Ultimatte, Keylight, DVmatt
    https://www.phyxware.com/NI_Keyer_comparison.html
As you see, watching that comparison board (made by PHYX !) Phyx Keyer is the best of the best (price, functions etc…)
But PHYX show only a very superficial Tutorial and I did’nt discover anything new.

About Primatte demonstration, Primatte have great quality, great number of very good functions if really PHYX is FAR superior than Primat with less than half price, PHYX will occupy exclusivly the Keyer market ?
    Waiting for your opinion

    HI Dave,
It’s was not a hard lesson, on the contrary it was a very interesting lesson for me. First I dicovered how to import images on the forum from Mark, the need of study rotoscope and different techniques from you etc… I love learning and I feel less idiot each time. Second, I discovered different reactions, different feedbacks from all of you about my impossible question. Third : Creative Cow is a very great invention.
Dave, there is not at all salvage work, two takes I sent to you conform to the original script. Trying to exploit black screen was my fantasia during the post production.
Thanks all of you for your precious advises and informations.
    Best regards
    Nhan
