My issue is quite different and very pressing. I have a long clip 01:41:55:xx. it is 1920×1080 29.97p and after grading the whole film exported at over two hours….Unusable! I set the time code at the main page to 30 which I assumed was 29.97 or at least would see the footage as such but it obviously didn’t. Does this thing not work with this type of footage? The audio is completed and is currently encoded to Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby AC3 Stereo. The originals are fine but after I graded the project well I’m sure I don’t need to explain. Anyone have any ideas? it there a setting somewhere? Did I miss something….

    Hi Leo,

I think your missing the point. OMF is an audio only format which, yes can be imported into protools. However AAF is a file that identifies audio and video files from a project and then allows the import of all of the files into a session ie a Protools session to complete a digital filebased workflow. The automatic duck plug in to which you are reffering is a day late and a dollar short IMHO because this is a group of functions that are outdated and outmoded. In a time where we used tape for video in order to complete posting a video or film, OMF and therefore the Automatic Duck plug-in would be great. But that is not the case. Now we are using DV/AVI files which can be output to a NTSC monitor using avid picture lock via a MOJO or AV-10 both of which read non-imbeded AAF files in order to achieve a locked video output to be posted in a absolute sync fashion. This makes the OMF little more than an antiquated format that has perhaps reached the end of it’s road. and is certainly not applicable in this type of senario.

As of this point I’ve had to export an AAF from Premeire Pro import that into avid Pro HD and re-export the AAF from the avid station into Protools. Adobe tells me the AAF has been greatly improved but as of yet although I can import the AAF into Protools, the AAF is unable to point to the media files, and that is it’s function. So something is wrong I just am not sure what.
