I think I figured out why this problem happened. I deleted a folder that apparently was being used as the capture scratch folder for quite a few projects. I didn’t realize that was the case. Fortunately, I think anyway (as this is just a theory now), I have a copy of this capture scratch folder that am in the process of transferring to the drive from which I deleted it, which I hope solves this issue. Anyway, silly mistake on my part, which I hope I never repeat. I’ll let you and everyone know if this works, and you were absolutely right it wasn’t the drive-switching that was the problem. Thanks Shane.

No it’s just drive switching, all the files for each project are only in one hard-drive

Thanks Shane, I used the first method, the Log and Transfer one, and made sure to import everything and I never changed the names of the folders or anything. Initially all the links worked, but I started having projects with a lot of broken links recently, I think because of me alternating between the two hard-drives for different projects but I’m not sure. So I’m trying to find out the best way to reconnect all this media.

Yes it is checked, thanks Gene (‘this’ being the Finder preferences box to show external drives on the desktop). It seems to be an issue with the USB-3.0 port I installed myself, as the external drive does appear on the desktop when I connect the drive via the older USB ports that came with my MacPro, as opposed to that USB 3.0 I just installed. Just let me know if you or anyone else has any clue about this, as I’m still not hearing from the manufacturer of the ‘RocketU Dual USB 3.0 for Mac.’

Much appreciated Stephen, very helpful on both. On the slow mo thing, if you shoot 1080 resolution for most of the shoot, and 720 for a few slow mo shots, is it a pain to integrate the two later? I’m assuming no, because I’ve heard it’s never a problem to go from higher to lower resolution (in other words make the whole sequence 720), as opposed to vice versa. But I just wanted to confirm that.
    Thanks!

Thank you for the great link, Joe!

Much appreciated, Mark. It turns out it was just an oversight, and she had actually addressed this issue. She said the releases were part of the agreement with the customer and she has already communicated to her parents that their child could not attend without the signed form. Sorry for the apparently unnecessary questions but your feedback as well as everyone else’s was still a great help!

Thanks a lot Joe, and thanks for the AP guidelines link too. I heard from another source who also said the releases are very important, and another person who suggested I have the client sign a contract indemnifying me from any liability. At this point I feel like requiring the releases, and offering to draft them for her, is the best course. Just let me know if you or anyone else has any more feedback, or know of a good source of boilerplate releases, especially involving minors, and/or where both the videographer and the client are released from liability.

This is great, Mark! So I looked up Boris Motion Key and it appears to be about $200. Just let me know if you or anyone knows of any better deals on the software, or if I’m wrong on that, but it certainly is exactly what I’m seeking. For budget reasons I may need to give Roger’s manual technique a whirl first. I’ll keep everyone posted on the result. Thanks everyone.
