Hi Neil – welcome to the world of DSLR video. Getting smooth handheld shots from a relatively heavy camera such as the 5D Mark III can be a challenge. I use a Flycam 5000 because the “pole type” stabilizers with longitudinal weights allow for finer adjustments than the curved type.

If I were you, I would spend about $130 on an Opteka Steady Vid SV-HD instead of the CobraCrane – which seems a little overpriced to me.

You should also be aware that arm fatigue can be an issue with these stabilizers after a few hours of use.

To deal with this, I bought a Body Pod to go with my Flycam. It helped a lot.

Hope this is helpful and good luck!
