well Mc 5.5.3 is only supported on Lion 10.7.0 and MC 6.0 is only supported on 10.7.1 or 10.7.2 so depending on which version your using and which OS version, there might be the problem right there.

With that said. Just cause its unsupported doesn’t mean it won’t work. Im using MC 5.5.3 on 10.7.2 and everything is fine or at least everything i use day to day.

Also, its always recommended to do a clean install of a new OS, especially with Lion.

im having the interface bugs. windows open outside of viewable moniter space, wont remember my workspaces, etc. And the real show stopper which is lighting up the Avid forums is the Exception:ADM_COREAUDIO_UNDERRUN pop up i and alot of others are getting, just trying to playback a timeline.

So while i love the new interface, the open i/o, and faster more responsice MC 6.. i cant use it yet 🙁

im using final cut pro 7.03 and MC 5.5.3 on Lion 10.7.2 and its all working great at the moment. Had alot of bugs in MC 6 so iwent back to 5.5

but FCP 7 does work and work well on 10.7.2

AMA is in Avid as of now is only really useable for previewing, but bringing your clips in via AMA and transcoding is alot faster than importing them from scratch.

Waveforms ca be turned on, and i believe they always default to off, no matter the media, i think tis up to you to save your timeline setting with the waveforms checked.

I dont know alot of people that do event stuff, but its certainly tailored to any type of media editing and multicam works great once yuour files are in mxf.

if your looking for a realtime edior, tha can do agillion tracks and fx in real time, then avid isnt for you. But if you want something tried and tested and a stable platform then you cant go wrong with avid.

with all that said, MC 6isfar from perfect as expected from .0 release. Ive already ran into a show stopping bug. The main difference is ive had diret conversation with tech support and theyve assured me the devs are working on it for a patch. Something youd never get from any apple product is the truth and a roadmap.

I say that only because hes the first person to say so, and yes – we dont know if he asked for any of his employees opinons on the matter. How would you liked to be forced into software you didnt want to use and or didnt work for you?

I say this also, cause every single editor ive talked to in person (not on forums like this), yes every single one scoffs at the idea of using it, and even where i work, when the mention of it comes up, when our creative directors try to plan budgets for next year, etc theey are met with groans and grumbles. Just explaining the general vibe out here in LA LA land. No one wants to use it, or is taking it eriously.

I would personally reccomend no one spend there money on it YET, seeing as theyve announced the plans for update next year, why not hold on to your money for 6 months and see if then it’ll do what we need.

i made the switch to back to Media Composer. Was a natural choice because its what i use at work most of the time, and it was finally affordable and useable on my home setup.

To me the lack of a source moniter is also what kills it for me. That and the lack of tracks, mostly audio. I could getu sed to a magnetic timeline but those two things are majorshowstoppers to me.
