The Key-frame problem is probably me since they implemented new tools.

Im not sure what your trying to accomplish in trim, but theres no need to click anything, especially for a roll, which is the default behavior. Up and Down arrows will take you cut to cut, and then , and . do the frame by frame triming. Or JKL, or n and m for 10 frames at a time.

As for the wavefoems you have “only show marked waveforms” selected. I think its in the composer settings.

The key frame stuff is just how it is now.

Its not useless, but some were having problems when trying to view certain codecs with it, and premiere.

They work fine together software wise..

However.. depending on what I/O box you use you might run into trouble. For example Blackmagic boxes are working great in Media Composer now, but not so much in Premiere.

If you are asking if you should stick with tried and true software like FCP, which is a suite of applications that cover several disciplines, and translates easily to most other proven editing platforms or go with movie hero which is essentially imovie on steroids, just look at jobs posted in the year and a month that X has been around paying careful attention to the rate offered for FCP, Avid, Premier editors vs editors who know X.
If you do that you will find the real answer to your question.

X shortcoming aside, I haven’t seen one person asking for an X specific editor yet (besides the rate), and i do alot of freelance. I have it in my toolkit, and have been poking it with a stick, just cause i thought it would come up one day, but really i dont think anyone in LA is taking it seriously yet.

Thats what I’m saying.. Not to mention I’m honestly trying to figure out how that one inch by 1/4 inch rectangle off to the side of the timeline gets in anyones way of editing?

A lot of the guys at work really bitched about it when going up from 4 to 5, and i couldn’t ever really figure out why. A lot grumblings about it being like FCP. Im like really? Unless your a drag/drop editor,and no one is here, i don’t see how it makes a difference.

You just have to click the box surrounding them and make them “stop” activating.

You guys act like they activate on there own or something. In composer settings, you check “only one active smart tool at a time”, and pick wether you want overwrite or insert at its default behavior, and thats it. They wont turn on at random. Then you check, clicking timecode bar goes back to source record mode. Its really simple.

I dont get everyones gripes with them. Their there if you want to use them, but you can completely ignore them if you want.

cant physically remove the smart tool, but theres nothing that says you have to use it. I never notice its there.

You need to get into segment mode, then hit shift a/s, and your in it. Click on the timeline and it brings you back to source record.

[Lemur Hayop] “Apple would really have to pump up Logic Pro X to get anybody excited about it. I think it would have to be fully integrated with FCPX, but that probably won’t happen. Logic Pro X is destined for a dumb down. Pro Tools will soon go to 11, with RTAS out-the-door, AAX in, 64 bit, offline bounce, and probably a lot of other stuff. 11 will quell all the other sequencer wannabees. Pro Tools and Reason are my audio apps of choice. I tried a bunch of other stuff, and retired them all. Logic is still on my plate but not for long.

Logic already had its dumb down from 7 to 8. Does anyone remember “the enviroment”? Now all thats in the background. I don’t see how they could make Logic any more user friendly? Everything is basically done in the background except busses and sends which are still really intuitive. What are they gonna do, get rid of the mixer? Its already pretty streamlined and neat, especially when you look at the competition. The only thing they should do with Logic in Logic X is improve the audio editing. Bring it more inline with Pro Tools in that respect.Other than that, theres not much to do there. Maybe thats why there hasn’t been need for a big update in a while.

I do really think the did the speed ups and slow downs in post. Definitely not an in camera effect. Pretty sure its a canon DSLR of some flavor

As far as chop it up, i meant it looked like the used a combo of slowmo/fastmo and skipping frames, to get that “choppy” feel. Skipping frames meaning every 3 frames or so, cut 3 out. This combined with certain actors freezing, gives that cool look.

Im pretty sure i know exactly who cut this too, as Breezy Excursion is my friends from San Francisco’s clothing line, and my buddy Roque usually does all the shooting and post for them.
