I talked with an AVID technical support guy yesterday, he was baffled, he even took remote control of my workstation and after 40 minutes, he gave up and said the much dreaded phrase: “I suggest reinstalling the software”, so my desperate attempt to solve this without having to go there seems to flounder. I wonder though, if there is anybody out there that has some experience, using script to change things on the interface, who can have something to say, that might be worth trying right before committing to re-install the whole thing. Thank

PS: I don’t feel inclined to do the screen shot for 2 reason, 1: I am logging into the forum using my Mac Laptop (I’m a Mac user) I wouldn’t know how to make that screen shot in my PC-based, Windows XP-powered work station, and have to go through the motions of transferring said screen shot to my Laptop (not an easy undertaking, at the moment) and 2: I am convinced it will not add much to helping understanding the problem, I am not trying to be rude or snobbish, there are issues of resolution of the screen shot and the resolution of the display used to see it. The difference between both might “hide” the problem, making it not very easy to grasp, if you don’t know how big those numbers use to look (A1 V1 etc) how can you tell how much smaller they look now. Many of the others editor who seen my problem, don’t seem to be able to see anything wrong, they just think is the way my settings are affecting what’s been displayed. Only after comparing their station with mine and after reproducing the bit of shrinking and expanding tracks in their station is when they come to see the problem and actually agree with me that is not a big deal, but big enough of an annoyance to just let it be without trying to fix it.

    Sorry for the big PS.

The problem is precisely that just going CTRL-L doesn’t restore the track indicator (A1 V1 etc.) to its full size. The problem happens across all users, in old projects and new projects, and keeps happening even after the site settings and MC state were dumped. The best way I can think of describing this anomaly is this: Imagine that you had to shrink your tracks, all of them to the point that the track indicator had to shrink so it fits within the button, now you had to increase the sized of your tracks to a more manageable size but the track indicators got stuck in a that smaller size, that is the problem I am experiencing.

  • I don’t know what to make of the color correction thing, but the A1 V1 thing you’re talking about is called the track panel, you can hide or reveal it by going to the fast menu in the lower left corner of you timeline window and checking or unchecking the fourth option called control panel, that should hide/unhide said track panel or “my A1, A2, V1, track things” as you describe it.

    I hope this helps.
