October 15, 2015 at 6:31 pm in reply to: machting selects from one timeline to synced clips on anotherIf you don’t have overlays turned on your program monitor, you should do that. Then instead of using match frame you can just glance at the program monitor to see your in-point. That saves one step at least. Also, it’s quicker to browse your synced timeline with the displays on.

October 15, 2015 at 6:18 pm in reply to: FCP7 editing and organising tips for a feature projectFootage should be organized by day shot. Create a new folder for each day. Call each folder, Day 01, Day 02, etc. Within the day, create a new folder for each camera, Cam A, Cam B, etc. Within each camera folder, create a new folder for each card, or “Roll”, Roll001, Roll002, etc.
Transcode all footage to Pro Res 422, or XDCAM, depending on what you’re shooting on. Only XDCAM if that’s the native format your camera shoots on. Keep transcoded footage next to the raw footage in a folder called “transcoded”.
When organizing in FCP 7, organize by Scene. Make a new bin for each scene. Within each scene, you can bin footage by shot type or whatever makes sense for the project.
Designate each track on the timeline for specific things. A1-A4 could be dialogue, A5-A8 for Music. A9-A10 for ambient sound. A11-A14 for SFX.

Good call on the precomp! That worked perfectly.
I was excited to finally have a good use for an adjustment layer in Premiere and I overlooked a good AE solution. Thanks!

I guess I’m not sure how to make that mask.. I can make the mask on one video. Then if I copy it to another video, I don’t know how to reposition the video under the mask since the mask moves with the video. Is there a way to make one mask and only have it effect the layers I specify?

Thanks for the response Jordan. I’m exporting the video from Premiere with an alpha channel and placing it on a full screen graphic in AE.

March 20, 2015 at 5:18 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro exporting without DeNoiser audio effect..What happened to me was, I didn’t delete the denoiser filter before bringing the clip into Audition. Then I was editing my clips as a multitrack session. Usually I edit each clip individually and simply saving replaces the original clip in Premiere. When you edit using a multitack you actually have to export it to Adobe Premiere Pro.
So I was actually just listening to the faulty denoiser filter because I didn’t properly export from Audition.

January 30, 2015 at 2:53 pm in reply to: Premiere Pro exporting without DeNoiser audio effect..I’m actually having the problem in Premiere and in Audition. I’m removing wind and it sounds great in Audition. It renders back into Premiere and sometimes the sound reduction works, sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it starts working mid-clip. Very frustrating as I’m pretty sure my client thinks I’m an idiot at this point…

Yes, I am having the same problem. If I export an H.264 .mov at 6000 kbps from premiere it looks horrible. The same export from FCP7 or QT Pro looks great. I don’t think I can export a QT Ref from PP (right?). What I’m trying now is to export from Media Encoder.
Open Media Encoder and import your PP sequence. The export options are different so instead of exporting 6000 kbps I did Target Mbps 6 and Max Mbps 12.
Media Encoder allows VBR, 2 pass whereas I cannot find that from PP.
The default is a .mp4 instead of a .mov but that doesn’t really matter so I let it stay a .mp4.
The speed of the export is that of a snail through Media Encoder. Again, I’m not doing an apples to apples export but still… The result is what you would expect of an H.264 though so it is a good option if you have the time.
