I know that one of the videos is being edited on Avid…they don’t use FCP. I’m not sure about the other one. If they are both on Avid though, then what would be the best solution in this case?

    Would this be an option?:
Quicktime file, uncompressed, 25fps, 1920×1080 on HDD (as was one of the options given to me).

Thanks Sascha. Yes, I am creating a DVD from that material. It’s actually two separate videos from two separate people, but both will go on the same DVD.

So, just to clarify, I shouldn’t go with any of the other options I was given for the first video, but instead ask them for an Apple ProRes HQ File also? And are there any other specs I need to give them for that type of file?

Yep, tried them both. It’s weird because it accepts some clips and not others (of course not the ones that I actually need).

Could it be some sort of format issue?? I’ve only worked with tapes til now, so this is still new to me…

Thanks guys. If it helps, here are the formats I have:

The footage from the Sony XDCAM has the following:

    Frame size: 1920×1080
    Vid rate: 25 fps
    Compressor: XDCAM EX 1080p 25

    Frame size: 1280×720
    Vid rate: 25 fps
    Compressor: XDCAM EX 720p 25

    Frame Size: 1920×1080
    Vid rate: 23.98 fps
    Compressor: XDCAM EX 1080p24

Then there’s the following from the Varicam and the Canon 5D:

    Frame Size: 1920×1080
    Vid Rate: 24 fps
    Compressor: Apple ProRes 422

    Frame Size: 1920×1080
    Vid Rate: 30 fps
    Compressor: H.264

As each one is different, I just need to know what settings to set up the sequence as, in the simplest possible way, ie, what frame size, aspect ratio and compressor etc? We want to save the project on a hard drive when it’s finished, to send it off for grading, and then later be able to transfer it on digibeta for TV airing.

    Thanks again.
