Hello Mr. Adcok,
I have also some questions about Keycodes, Final Cut 7 and Cinema Tools. I hope you don’t mind to help me.
I’m going to start working on a film shooted on 35mm 3p and I’m going to receive de footage from the lab in Apple ProRes.
What would be the best workflow? I did a test doing the following:
1) Import the Quicktimes to my hard drive.
2) Open a new database in Cinema Tools and then import the ALEfile from the lab.
3) Then, still in cinema tools, I opened each file and connected them with the Quicktimes. I had to correct a lot of them because the key and Timecode information was wrong a lot of the times. Is that usual?
4) I could see that there is a pop up menu where I can choose between 35mm 3p and ·1/·2/·3. I think this is about the perforations. Do I have to be carefull abut that?
5) After correcting, I conformed the QT to 24fps.
6) Then, I went to Final Cut and imported the Quicktimes from my hard drive, but I couldn’t see the keycode information of the clips in the browser (the keyNumber Column was empty). Eventhough, I could create a film list and it was fine.
Do you think I missed some part of the process that I couldn’t see the keynumbers? Do you theink this workflow is the best way to do it?
Thank you so much for your help!
Regards,
N.
