Worked with Adobe this morning and we started a new non Decklink. So you were right, AJA – Decklink – So I am calling BlackMagic to say WASSUP!

So, The Multicam worked. The problem now is that it will not play steady. I can start it and it will play for about 2 seconds then the video freezes but audio continues. If I click from window to window it will not change it just stays selected on that window. When I stop, the timeline updated with every cut I made even though I did not see it. Also, when I tried this with “Audio Folows Video” The audio does play and moves to the selected track even though the video does not. Any thoughts?

I thought that perhaps the network was not keeping up with this so I brought 4 clips local and retried with the same results.

This is a dual 3Ghz with 5 gig of Ram. This should handel this.

BTW, I called BlackMagic this morning and asked if there were any known issues with the card and PPro2 and the tech had not heard of any.

We dig from beta about 99% of the time, so the dv thing would not necessarily be a good test would it?-
But, using the idea that perhaps it was an issue with the clips, I just took several source clips from projects that have been completed (clips that worked). I had the same issue. I also tried clips that were not injested through the Decklink card just in case it was a DL thing. In all cases I get the same results. While writing this I am sitting on hold waiting for Adobe to talk to me. Current wait time 2+ hours. Un #$%#%^ believable. I wanna go and get some lunch. Oh well.

Not sure if I said this before because I can not see my posts here, but I can run it and click where the video frames would be in the multicam and it does make the cuts. So the MC does work, just not with video support.

Mike I did everyhting that you did in your tutorial. I even scrapped the original project thinking that perhaps there was a corruption issue. The only corruption was in Washington, Premiere on the other hand acted the same both times. The only difference between your clip and my experience is that when you clicked to open the milticam monitor, your images were immediatly there, mine is black. Last night I had to just bite the bullet and do it the old fashoned way…whaaaaaa! But I do need to get this sorted out. There were 2 clips. Both AVI. One is a render from After Effects the source was a render from Camtasia. The other clip was a camera recorded onto Beta, digged in through the black magic card. I will call BlackMagic and ask about any know issues with the card and multicam. It scares me to be using a card with the initials BM. But so far the card has been great.

Yeah, I started with wmv. It was my first direction. What I found out after I made all my renders is that this software only has support for avi. Doh! So, this is why I am banging my head against the wall. I have currently dropped 3 of the uncompressed pieces and am just using the logo loop as this was the main deal, the rest was more or less just extra candy.

The danger I am also running into with some encoders is that there are color shifts. This software has a feature that is great on a lot of levels and a pain on others, but you can set a specific RGB value as transparent. The 120 x 30 is a selection indicator for a list. It looks very much like the marching ants in Photoshop, but yellow. It sits on top of 1,1,1 Super dark grey (set as the transparent color in this layout).
If the compressor shifts any color to squish a bunch of pixels together, I am hosed because my transparency goes away. I am currently talking to the programmer and asking for him to support avi + alpha, or, adding wmv support. But for the mean time, I need to find an avi solution.

As to the TechSmith codec, I use camtasia as well. I had not thought about using it as an output source. I will have to try that. It does allow for avi output and I believe you can specify any size. I can try that tomorrow.
